remote login help

Hi, I have winXP sp1 on 2 computers, me and my moms .
I also have remote assistance set up on both computers, and I know the IP (using no-ip since her IP is dynamic) and passwords and stuff for my mom's computer.
Is it possible to remote login into my mom's computer without using the remote connection though? even a command prompt is fine, since I'd like to for example enable or disable services if needed, maybe update some files and such, and I dont want to accidentally inturrept her if she is in the middle of something.

I've done some search on the web, and the only program that I came across was beyondexec's (http://www.beyondlogic.org/solutions/remoteprocess/BeyondExec.htm) program, but I can't get it to work

disabling services via command line and low level methods is probably gonna cause more of a headache than any good. why not just call her, tell her you need 10 minutes on the pc to update some stuff and then let her be on her way?
