Removable ATA/66-100 Enclosure w/Lock/Fan/LED-Rem Face Plate

I think these just came back in stock today. I've got a bunch of these and they're damn handy - and for $7.50 each that's a deal.
I especially like that you can turn them on and off with the key.
Really gives a lot of flexibility for multiple hard drives.

Take a looky

Almost forgot - don't forget to get your free organizer/radio - it's pretty cool for free - see t*bargains

I ordered 5 of these a month back and they are the best bang for the buck. I love them. Ans they have a cooling fan and removable faceplate just incase you want to pop in a LS120 or zip drive.

1 unit - S&H $6.00
10 units - S&H $15.00

I can recommend "SwapManager" software that will literally allow "Hot Swapping" in *Windows*.

Right now, it is only for drives on the Secondary IDE channel.

There is a new version in the works that will be more sophisticated, allowing more units - I'm trying to talk them into max'ing it out as much as possibly and to through in drive letter management.

Unfortunately, when I just checked their website (http://www.softhelp.cc/), there is some sort of snafu and it is of *no* use, at the moment.

I've emailed my contact - hoping for a response soon.

There are 'add on specials' too if you want more than one.
For every drive at full price ($7.50) you can buy another for $7.00

These are for IDE drives, not SCSI. The company that makes these
sells a version for SCSI drives, but this is not it...

what's the largest drive these will hold..? i know that older removable-bays used to limit you to 4.5Gb or 9Gb drives because of the vibration and data-integrity issues... anyone know?

Update : If you use the MC coupon, it's cheaper to get it at the $7.50 price cause they don't apply the coupon to the add on special.

I've got a 40 gig in one of these.... No problems

Question --- I also have a 30 gig 7200 RPM in one of these and it runs pretty darn hot Do you think it would benefit from being down in the hard drive case where it is not so enclosed? Granted there is no cooling fan....

These are great! If you are like me, you will find that the keys can be annoying! Especially since there is more than one lock type, you could need several keys. (Bad Idea with youngsters). Perhaps in a workplace you want the drive locked, but I don't at home. The little bar/rod that prevents the drive from coming out when the key is locked. This bar/rod is actually threaded and has a small slot for a small screwdriver. (You will see it when you turn the lock. Simply unscrew it, put it in a safe place with the key and your drives are ALMOST hot swappable! (Make sure you turn the key to the "ON" position before putting (or throwing) it away! I just found it alot easier when you move drives around.

freeloaderz - you're right, that did annoy me, and I looked at removing the lock rod - and thought of using epoxy to keep the keys in, but decided I didn't want them sticking out - Finally just decided to hang the keys on a string from one of the handles. A little short on/off knob would be best for me - might mess with it more sometime
