Removing duct tape adhesive from clothes

I duct taped stuff for my halloween costume and it left a lot of adhesive. I used a lot of tape so there's a lot of residue left. What's a good way to remove the adhesive? Is there a good product to use or can the cleaners remove it?

Goof off would remove, but I'm not sure if it's safe for clothes. Maybe you can test a spot...

I use more tape and keep dabbing at it. It usually works great for label residue on product packaging.

My suggestion uses duct tape to fix a duct tape problem, so duct tape wins.

Hint: Use a slight twist when lifting after each dab and it should come off more easily.

Obviously, remove the clothes first. (one infraction already today...don't need to push my luck )

Goof Off or Goo Gone would PROBABLY be the safest option...but, depending on the fabric, may not be the best option.
Dry cleaning is also a good possible option. Worth a call to your local establishment.

yea someone read the ingredients off the back of goo be gone...
u probably want to wash the f*ck out of anything you will wear if it gets that chemical treatment.

a dry cleaner can can get it out

I would try de-solv-it first. It dissolves grease, tape residue, and even took off pine pitch from a pair of shorts for me.
It's easy to use and it has a nice orange smell. should be able to find it where cleaning products are sold.

ethylene glycol - aka antifreeze.
dissolves the adhesive and is harmless to most fabrics, actually an ingredient used by dry cleaners.

I learned that trick from an antique book dealer. He used that to clean sticky crap off of old books, and it dries absolutely clean, with no damage to the pages.

Used this, it worked but took a really long time. Washed the pants and they smell of citrus. I'm probably going to take my shirt to a dry cleaner...
