Hi! I need to remove the voices from a song I have. I have it as an MP3 and I also have the CD of it. Does anybody know of a program that I can use to do this? I would be extremely pleased if I could do this. Thanks.
I would like to do the same thing. The only real option I found are 1) Convert to MIDI, so everything has its own track, but I have never gotten this to work. Some people say it works, others dont. Dunno...
2) Try using filters to filter out all frequencies other then where the voice is at. This is extremely tedious, and you still have all the instruments that are at the same frequency as the voice.
If you find a better way, please post it so I can use it!
I THINK I remember seeing this as an option in Sound Forge back when 4.5 was the latest release, this was the last one I played around with. I'm actually about to get back into recording music and am also curious to remove vocals, however, I haven't played around with this yet. If Sound Forge doesn't do this, and someone else knows a good way, please post!
i think i saw a winamp plugin, but also i have something called ntrack studio, very nice proggy, it works with midi tracks, all kinds of stuff, it oughta be able to convert to midi good, but i dont remember any ways to go back to mp3
Most songs have the voice as the center channel (mono). If you remove any mono signal, you'll remove most of the voice. However, this also kills the bass and you can still hear some of the echo from the voice. This's how my kareokee machine works.
Sound Forge does the same. It takes left minus right and then right minus left. Whatever's left over is kept. So basically, mono (center) channel is deleted.
After you've done this, send it to the midi converter and adjust the sound accordingly. You should have an ok reproduction. Good luck.

disclaimer: I've only done the kareokee and sound forge stuff. never tried the midi but I've been told it works.

Three simple effects: Echo, Voice Removal, and Pitch/Tempo control Limitations: This plug-in only effects audio that is 16 bit. Echo: adds a simple echo effect to the music Voice Removal: only for Stereo sounds, this attempts to remove the center channel. Sounds pretty good on about 1% of music out there, the other 99% sounds like crap. Pitch/Tempo control: ownage. "
a little trick i use...if you have a digital encoder for your speakers with ProLogic mode...the rear speakers have the main vocals always cut out of them...if you just record that channel from a deck...its the same result
NateLam: Pretty much the same as taking away the center channel. Pro-logic isn't that intelligent. 2 channels split to 4. You still get that echo effect. However, I like your way cuz it's so much simpler than what I was trying to explain.
rock on!
