Roughly how much of your take home, bi-monthly, should be allotted for rent? Not including utilities. I got a better job and I plan on movin' on up, to the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky.

All depends on what other bills you have and how much they cost.

Car payment, utilities, credit card debt, etc. Don't stretch yourself too thin or if something bad happens you'll be SoL...

Anyway... It really all depends. You can't throw out a budget on something like that. How much is the average rent in your area? Then go from there. You can always budget things like food. But it is hard to say "Well I'm only going to pay 10% of my wage to rent". Rent isn't something you can control the price on.

bicentennial is every two years. Semi-annually is every half year.

Just for perspective....

Semi agree. You can control rent to a certain point if you're willing to live further away or in a smaller/worse place/area.

I pay under 20%, but I have a long commute. If I wasn't cheap and willing to pay 40% I could live much closer to work.
