 We're cool.

Honestly, it's not as though anyone has to justify their choices to me. I just wish them luck with those choices as gas prices continue to rise.

A few years ago I was enjoying being able to ride my bicycle to work...nice and smug in my self but now I'm driving 60 miles a day. I'm making more money but cycling isn't an option and commuting by motorcycle is not really a viable a long term solution.

What amazes me is people continue to buy these vehicles when they really have no need for them.

Well there you go. You've traded fuel use for living and working where you want to. It always amazes me that people complain about SUVs but live and work far apart.

We drive a Suburban that gets 14/18 with a 31 gallon tank. But my wife and I car pool and live close to work so we fill it up once every 3 weeks.

My daily round trip is about 9.5 miles. Gas mileage is really not a factor for me. I have to make an extra trip once in a while to get the Hemi to warm up fully.

The Menards I rent the truck from usually rents out an F250. I've rented four times in the last year, and I need to rent again to buy some plywood and 2x4s for building a big bar table. I plan on eventually replacing some concrete in front of my house with decking, and I want to redo some of the steps (pavers) on the path from my driveway to my house ...

I'm seriously considering buying a new utility trailer .... one of those lower end fold up jobs with like 1000 pound capacity .... won't be quite as capable, but would be great for 99% of what I need. I've seen them for under 300 bucks....

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Renting superduty trucks when a half ton would suffice. Just think about all the extra gas that was consumed.

lol
I just get whatever Menards gives me.
If they rented just a trailer with a 2 inch ball that I could hitch to my car and it costed $20 or less, I would do that....
As long as there's an 8x4 flat area for putting stuff, I'm happy.

That said, I do eventually need slightly more capacity for when I eventually get around to redoing my paver walkways ..... but I'll probably just get a trailer that can handle 1/2 a ton and put 1/4 a ton in the back of the car and make 2 trips if necessary ...

i just bought a 98 civic hatchback with body damage to take the hurt off my walllet with gas prices being so high. i generally drive 300 miles during the work week and another 200-250 on weekends with my kids. that is almost 2 full tanks in my dodge truck, and the cost was killing me. i dont have to use my truck for work anymore, so it doesnt get used as much as it did when i got it. so, the jump from 16mpg to 34mpg has been a nice one, and the car will end up paying itself off in a few months.

but i still have the truck, drive it at least once a week. it will never get replaced fully, we still like to go camping and off road a lot.
