I have an ASUS RT-AC68U that was working great with the previous ATT modem and now cant get internet signal on the replacement ATT modem.

I have it setup to be a WIFI repeater for my home office which is not connected to my house.

For some reason I can connect to the repeater but not access the repeater menu options. I can only do that when I am connected to the ATT modem wifi.

When I use the device discovery it says "your computer and your wireless router are on a different subnet mask. Ensure that the IP addresses of both your computer and your wireleess router are on the same subnet mask."

I did not do any custom setting to this. I used the wizard like I did before. Called Tech Support for ATT and ASUS and no one can fix it. Google was not my friend either. Hopefully you guy know the issue.

People use the word repeater as it used in Poetry, thus it become quite useless when it is used to provide technical Info.

Please explain exactly how the Asus is connected and configure to work wit the ATT Modem.

Also tell us if your New ATT Modem is a Modem only or Modem/Router,

My apologies

The setup is this.

The ATT Modem is a modem/wifi router.

The ASUS is receiving a wifi signal from the ATT router.

Then the ASUS is setup as a "Repeater" according to the interface and rebroadcasting that signal.

Why are you doing that? Is there no way to run a wire to the asus from the at&t box?

Also why not set it to bridge mode instead of repeater mode?

No way I can get a hard wire to it.

I would have to run conduit to the other price of the property.

Would bridge be better? I thought I would need it to be hard wired for that.

Total novice here. I just want the Internet to be decently fast in my trailer/office.

Once you get it to the trailer, do you need wifi to connect to it or can you just hardwire to the "repeater"?
If so, bridge mode is better. Try using bridge mode on the asus and pick the ssid of the at&t. First do a site survey and see if you have vlear channels.

Bridge mode is definitely the way to go here. If you plug a laptop into the att modem, run IPconfig on your laptop and see what the IPv4 address is. You'll also want to take note of the default gateway and subnet mask which is most likely a /24

After you jot that info down, plug yourself into the "repeater" and run a ipconfig release and renew to pull fresh IP settings. You'll want to make sure the "bridge" (not repeater) is on the same network.

ATT modem-->your laptop--> your ip 192.168.1.2, gtwy 192.168.1.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0

Bridge should have the gateway set to the IP of the ATT modem and 255.255.255.0 subnet to match.

From here, continuity from the bridge to the att modem should be fine and your dhcp scope on the bridge will handle the rest.

UPDATE:

Thanks guys for help me out. Bridge mode was fast and easy. Now I just need to get longer ethernet cords to run to my printer.
