I sent my fax Thursday, and haven't heard a word from them. Mine is completely legit, too. It was a store bought MS Intellimouse Explorer, version 1.0, and it's always acted strange. I switched to a Logitech optical mouse instead (but I kept the Explorer).

I hope MS didn't stop this deal

Well, I had a legit problem with my Explorer 3.0 and worked through the online tech support first. (They ask you to do some stuff, you do it, and they give you the phone # at the top of this post). Because I went through the tech support, I didn't have to send them the bottom of the mouse or anything...

Of course, they're out of the Explorer 3.0... Sigh

I called ms about a keyboard that started acting crazy at the mentioned number and gave them the s/n. After a two minute wait the csr came back and said keyboard was still under warranty and would ship a new one out. Recieved it today. Thanks for the heads up on a really hot deal .By the way, they did not ask for fax or reciept or anything.A really good deal.Should not be abused

That's good, but I see no reason why they should anyway...it's not like you can pirate or download hardware Someone had to buy it, so MS got paid. Software is another store.

I still haven't gotten an e-mail confirmation or a new mouse, and it's been 4 business days now. I guess I'll call them.

For those that aren't hearing from MS, don't fret.

I faxed mine a few months back and never checked up on it.
It showed up at my door USPS Media Mail 2 weeks later.

I'll give it till March 7, and if it's not here by then, I'll call MS. I'll let you guys know how it goes

yes...they will send you the new 3.0 version. i did this about a year and a half ago with my original 1.0 when the connection from the wire to the housing was loose and it eventually became inoperable. They sent me the 3.0 in a month since they said that it was on backorder. i like the 1.0 better, it feels more solid.



i did the same thing a year ago. too bad, since i liked my 1.0 better hopefully, i can play with it and get it to work right.

I got mine today!

It's a brand new Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0.

The mouse's precision is much better than the 1.0's, and I'm sure it won't have the random problems they had (going REALLY slow until rebooting occasionally, stopping completely until rebooting). I think the mouse feels cheaper than the original one though. The scroll wheel isn't as smooth...the mouse just doesn't feel as solid. I don't really have room to complain since it's free though

BTW, MS never sent me a confirmation. I was wondering just last night if they were going to send me a mouse or not. I never heard a word from them, and then the box showed up on my porch this afternoon!

MS rules for hardware (not quality, but service)!! I had 2 originals replaced... my latest one has been working great for about a year now.

smartt: you can tell which ver you have by checking the sticker on the bottom.

Did you consider that he could very well have had 4 bad mice??

I'm pretty sure that nearly all the Explorer 1.0's eventually developed problems...

Yeah, that sounds like someone that had broken mice and was entitled to replacements. Excuse me, I have to go now cause some monkeys just flew out of my a$$.

If you want the best damned mouse on the planet, get a Logitech mx300. I don't think there ever was a microsoft mouse worth a $0.10

Got a question, I originally had a Explorer 1.0 that I got like 2-3 weeks before it was supposedly announced by Microsoft at CompUSA a few years back that I got a Explorer 3.0 for after the scroll wheel started squeaking a year or so ago. Was there ever a 2.0?

good thing I didn't throw away my 56k ISA slot faxmodem!!! My current computer doesn't have a ISA slot so I had to use my old Pentium 133... I took a picture of the bottom of my Intellimouse Explorer with my digital camera and cropped the barcode part and inserted in MS word. I faxed it to MS using Winfax PRO 10(it works with long distance phone cards, I don't have a long distance carrier). 4 days later, I got an e-mail from MS but they say Intellimouse Explorer is back ordered and ETA was 3/5/2003. Hope it comes soon!!! By the way, they ship via USPS media mail.

thats what happened to me. There was a problem apparently with those mice so I took mine apart re wired it it seems to work fine but its cutting out again so i sent it last week to ms.

I never received an email from Microsoft, but my new Optical Mouse was sent to me via 2 day Airborne. I used an Epson Perfection 610U scanner to scan the mouse. The software was Microsoft Photo Editor that pulled up the Epson twain software (Win2k drivers in WinXP per Epson instructions). I scanned in black and white at 400 dpi using automatic settings and the picture looked great. I then made a complete document in Word and faxed it Via WinXP fax. I had to use the built in modem in my 5 year old laptop ( Can you believe WinXP on a 128mb 233mhz Tecra 750DVD ? It plays DVD's perfectly by the way via the onboard hardware decoder which has XP drivers!)

couldn't resist, took advantage of this deal. my mouse is still in working condition except the single click becomes double click issue that i have from time to time.

i have the original optical explorer when it first came out in 1999 (i think) which came with the lifetime warranty. i figured, soon or later, the thing is going to break, and I would have to do this anyway. Why not do it now since right now I have all the information.

Strange, they sent me the wireless version by mistake, but i don't really want the wireless one.

after all, thanks for the deal

Word up. Mine crapped out just months ago, the optical eye wouldn't light up any more 90% of time. From time to time it'll work and I had to pull it. Couldn't find receipt, hence no replacement; until this thread comes along. Thanks!!!

I faxed my request two weeks ago.. i got a call from someone in microsoft and they said they had a problem with my shipping information.. i told them my correct information and they said they would call me back with my order number or something... but they never called back? its been like 3 days now.

thx just got me a new intellimouse explorer 3.0 ^.^ hehe if this mx700 ever needs new batteries or i forget to recharge them i can rely on this mouse...now its time to get that other mouse my mom has(left button has been lookin a lil low from holding the damn trigger button too long for tfc)
