I replaced the 108 cfm Sunon fans that came with the case with two AC Ryan 120mm fans (28.95db @ 77.70 cfm), and it is absolutely amazing the difference. My wife didn't think that the back fans were on. Now if only I could replace the 8 other case fans, it is going to be wonderful. I'm still leaving the sides off until I replace the 8, so we'll see about temps later...
Tas.

Just picked up a Thermaltake Thunderblade fan (120mm) from SVC for $5.99. It has a fan speed of 2000 RPM, 78 CFM and at only 21dBA !! It's got LED's too. You may want to check that out.

21dba at 78cfm seems a bit suspicious, probably just a marketing gimick. I'd check some reviews to be certain, but I'm lazy.

Quoted for ultimate truth (even the lazy part).

I don't know how Thermaltake gets their numbers, but they're usually way off. For example, their SilentBoost heatsink had a 80mm Panaflo-M fan. Panaflo rated it at 28dBA while Thermaltake rated it at 21dBA. Both at the same RPM, mind you.

I bet it's 21dBa at minimum speed and 78cfm at max speed.

Tas, wanna invest in some Nexus fans?

well that`s one opinion Operandi!!

I just installed a 120 mm Thermaltake smart case Fan and it just beats the Antec 120 mm all to pieces!!!

I like being able to adjust the fan speed!!

I have other Thermaltake fans in the same case!!

Thermaltake is a good solid Brand!!

Im sorry that you are so biased in your opinion of Thermaltake!!

Yeah, I think that's the decibel rating behind a solid concrete wall. 21dB is pretty darn quiet, and the only way you'll get a 120mm fan to do that is to run it really quiet. Even if you eliminate bearing noise, you'll still have the sound of whooshing air.

END QUOTE

I have some TT fans (and TT products for that matter). Their decent BB fans, its just that their specs are not accurate. AT ALL. I dont think Oper is biased, just trying to help forum readers be better informed on "false spec claims" in which TT is one of the worst (well actually SilenX is worse) IMO on their fan dba ratings. Jedi visit (maybe you already have) SPCR's website. They give out solid info on silence (fans, psu's,case's,HD's, etc...) and what their findings are on dba's and cfm's. Silence as we all know is so subjective to the user and what one might find is a quiet solution, another might find it to be annoyingly loud. Glad to hear Tas is achieving a quieter pc w/ his Ryan fans. Keep it up Tas....silence can be as addicting as oc'ing (atleast it is for me).

I`m sorry buty if you read what he is saying its very plain hes biased!
Sure possibly the specs are not completely accurate but....Thermaltake is still in my opinion a very good fan!
Define the word quiet??
To come on so strong and say-- Thermaltake is full of #&*@; sorry but you've been lied too.

For that mattewr if you did check the decibals of most brands you would find there are fluctuations from fan to fan using the same brand!!

So I stand behind my criticism of Oper.

Plus or minus a few dBA or CFM is one thing but TTs specs are completely ridiculous, I don't know what else to call it but a lie. It's to the point where you wonder if they actually took any measurements at all or just started making them up.

Just take a look around and compare similar fans to TTs. Either TT makes the best fans in the world in which case everyone should be using them or their specs are completely meaningless, which one seems more likely?

It's my opinion based on fact.

Thermaltake has no equal when it comes to their excaudated fan specs. This has been brought up several times, nobody disputes that their specs are clearly way off.

Well here is the UPDATE:

I installed the fan over the weekend...the 78 CFM is true, as it shoves out a ton of air. Most than I have seen that are similar. But it cannot be 21dBA. It is more like 28 and more than likely the air movement and not the fan itself.

Wait, there are actually satisfied Thermaltake customers?

The cases (generally) are hideous. (The Wavy bezel one is nice, the Armor is okay too.) The heatsinks suck too. Tt is a waste. The only thing I would consider buying Tt branded is the Big Water. But then again, I have a much better WC setup right now.

It's not his opinion!!

Thermatake exagerates everything they make!!

If you managed to read even a few articles you would agree!!

Check out silentpcreview.com to get some accurate numbers for fans!!

They even have sound clips now!!

Basically if you want quiet, go with the Nexus 120mm. If you need a bit more air the Yate Loon is a good one. Heck I'll even link the sticky thread.

I think you are absolutely right on that but i have a Tt 120mm fan and that thing is running quiet and blows hard. I have that on a thermalright xp 120 too.

And yes i love thermalright and i usually dont let Tt products even touch thermalright products but i took a chance this time and it was to my satisfaction which is pretty hard to get because i am a picky bastard.

In my experience with the old Volcano 6+'s and volcano 5s on durons and the volcano 7 series, i tried all of those and i didnt like any of them. But this one time i actually liked something from Tt and i almost fainted because the fan was actually good
