Replaced PS have question on antec EW 380

I replaced the smartpower 450 with the EW 380, there was a system fan power line to the board on the 450 and none on the EW. Does this matter? What was the 450 doing with this connection that the EW will not. Would I be better off with the 450 ps? thank you

once I got the ps in it kept shutting down usually in the first 2 minutes so I took the EW out

that wire just means your old psu fan speed could be monitored

did you hook up the EW properly?

As far as I could tell it was set right, I did not have any unaccounted for connections. Finally I pulled it out and put the 450 back in and have not had a single problem with the 450 . I thought I would try the higher efficiency ps but just did not work.

Weird. Not much of a power difference - what system is it going into?

- Some PSU's don't like some mobos (talk about weird...)
- Your system could be drawing a tad too much power, but I figure that'll manifest itself after more than two minutes...
- Your EW is defective - Antec has a good RMA program, so I'd get a replacement.

make sure the CPU fan is plugged in, as trivial as that sound...
