I appreciate the help and input from everyone, I already had planned on sending back the card because I was so dissapppointed, I just wanted some good feedback on my system as a whole.

Thanks for all the great responses

XP2700, 333FSB
Epox MB with nforce2 400 chipset
1 GB crucial 2700DDR ram
enlight 430 watt power supply

Should i see a big improvement with this card or with my current processor is this all im going to get using any card upgrade?

You're playing Battlefield at 800x600. Your Ti4600 and your 6600GT will perform similarly at this resolution in this game. In HL2, your Ti4600 was running the game in DX8.1 mode, and now your 6600GT is running the game in DX9 mode, so it's got more to process. If you bothered to run games at a higher resolution, or bothered to compare DX8.1 performance in HL2 between the 6600GT and Ti4600, you'd notice a big difference.

alos, in hl-2 you are running in dx7 mode with the ti4600. with a 6600gt, you are running dx9 mode. of course it wont be so different. dx7 taxes the GPU less so your game seems to run as fast.

So you RMA'd the card, BEFORE you asked for our help.

Now, i am usually an extremely helpful person... and you will never find my bash a newbie, a silly question, or any of the sort.. and I usually bash other people for being mean, or making fun of people in the posts.

But now, I am going on a rant.

So basically you wasted my time, Which i spent over and HOUR trying to help you with my posts and doing a little research on a card you ALREADY had RMA'D.

Not only that you RMA'D a PERFECTLY good card becuase you didn't bother to try and figure out why you were getting nearly the same results. Try actually TESTING a card 1st. That is a great card and would of seen a HUGE performance if you had botherly to try and figure it out 1st. What did you expect? You were already getting smooth game play at 800 by 600.... what did you expect? smoother game play on something that was already running great??????? Geez.

Someone remind to never help this person again.

I don't understand why you;d waste your time with a more expensive card that won't be any faster than a 6600GT on your system, and especially at 800x600. If you game at 8x6, you should've just accepted your CPU limitation, cranked the AA to 4x and the AF to 16x, and enjoyed the higher image quality at the same minimum speed as your 4600. A 6800 will only really be useful if you're going to game at a higher res with AA+AF, which it doesn't seem you're willing to even try.

I agree with brady. Dude that's being a complete @$$. If you would have listened to our suggestions you would have seen that by increasing the resolution (which was sh!tty at 8x6) you would have seen a major difference. Why do you play games at 8x6 anyways? I play loads of desert combat and you can't even see crap in the battlefield series at that resolution.

If I was you, I would suggest picking yourself up a 6200 to replace your Ti4600. Given the settings you run at, you are completely wasting your money buying a new part for anything but feature support. 800x600 res isn't even worth testing on any of the newer non integrated graphics parts. Buy the cheapest board with a full feature set you can find and be happy with it. The only way your games are going to improve at the settings you run is if you upgrade your processor/mobo/RAM- the vid card doesn't have an impact at those settings.

Umm, arent the GeForce4 Ti Series all DX8.1 cards?

If your games are already running smoothly, and you don't want to use higher than 800x600 (monitor limitation, perhaps?), why on earth are you doing any upgrades?
