Replacement for Navision

We are using old Navision Version 2.6 here at my work. We are looking into different options for new accounting/inventory software. I was hoping some of you may have some good suggestions for what options we should start researching.

We are looking for something with an open journal for the accounting side, which I think if I understand correctly, may be a difficult task. We have a large inventory list with more than 100,000 items with about 25,000 that we regularly stock. We also require bill of materials that can change inventory as items are sold.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated to give us a good starting point for research.

What are your budgetary concerns ?
Have you looked at the latest version of NAV ?
What about AX ?

I know I posted this awhile ago, but Boran thanks for your response. We finally decided to go with Microsoft Dynamics GP. We will begin prep-work next month and begin implementation shortly after that.

Turns out that we would have had to buy multiple versions of Navision to get back to the newest since there was no direct upgrade path from our really old version.

GP is a real step backwards. I would have stuck with nav or better yet AX.

AX is the microsoft flagship product they are spending all their money on.

Very large companies can still rock out with NAV.

GP is wicked old - no referential integrity. char(8) upper case table names?? no change block tracking versioning on tables? blech.

I'd have done AX - it has all its own dev tools built in - easy to stub .NET to avoid more per seat user charges.
