I'm fed up with my P5B mobo since I had only problems with it. First of all it has real issues with my ocz pc2-6400 ram. I had to take my comp back for repairs 3 times in one week (as a matter of fact my brand new rig spent more time in the store repair shop than on my desk). I've already changed one set of memory sticks with new ones and the chance of having them fauly again are slim. So all my problems root to this incompatible mobo.

And so, I want to change it to either a P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe of a P5W DH . What it your advice on this. I should mention I never do OC as I'm not really interested.

I'm in the same boat. I picked up a p5b because I needed a cheap motherboard and quick, but it's failing as a gaming motherboard.

I'm also pondering the P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe, but I am waiting until the Premium version, which I hope will be soon) to come out and the price of the delux to drop. Or just go for the premium... Either way, I can wait one more week, Asus announced it last week.

I just want a SLI board.

Gigabyte DS3 or s3 perhaps?

Or see if any of the Intel mobos support the GX2, since if you don't want OCing, & you want stability, they'd be the way to go.
BTW, OCZ RAM has had a lot of issues with C2D systems, so if you changed it for same OCZ...i'd say the blame doesn't belong on the mobo.

speaking about the Premium version, are you sure it will be the one with the c55 chipset ?
Where did you get your info on the release date ?

@n7. It might as well be the ram again but I've seen satisfied users of C2D and OCZ. I'd rather change the mobo first because it's cheaper. I can't go for intel because my retailer where I could refund my old card for a new one doesn't have intel boards. And I usually trust Asus over Gigabyte. It's just the P5B vanilla that I think it's too weak for my system config. tkx for advice anyway

Unfortunatly, the premium (Asus) will still have the C19 chip.

But, it should make the SLI SE Delux dirt cheap. I have a feeling that if you're going to want the C55, best bet is wait for DFI to kick it out. Rumor has it to be on the market around November time frame.

Unfortunately you decided to buy OCZ memory based on past history with DDR1 before realizing it stinks. So to that I say good luck. It's not the board's fault OCZ decided to use something other than Micron D9 chips (currently the best overclocking and most compatable).

There's a new Asus P5B-E motherboard, has the second revision 965 chipset on it that fixes some errata. Also has a different onboard LAN and sound bits. I bet it's more stable too, unfortunately a lot of motherboard makers first out the door products end up being beta quality.

To be honest, the p5b-e was exactly what I wanted and probably what I'll get for my second computer. The sound I'm not interested in, the raid I want. I made an incredible stupid and uninformed decision when I picked up the P5b for the raid. Mostly because I was in a hurry....

I've been using the p4pe as a file server for years now and I love it. My plan was to use the p5b for a temp desktop, wait for a decent SLI board, then convert the p5b to my file server. But since the p5b has some backwoods design to get the raid to work, I'll probably just pawn it off on someone: Its a pretty useless board.

I know I should wait and see how the market pans out in the next three months. It might not be econmically sound to plan on a DX10 sli solution. I have a feeling the dx10 cards are going to be too expensive, require too much power, that I might just have to go with a single card setup. In which case the p5b-e would be perfect. Plus, I don't really want to upgrade to Vista. But since that is the only way to get DX10.... I have a lot to think about. I just have a feeling that the Crysis game is going to be a really really expensive investment for me. Microsoft should be paying for the advertising of that game, because DX10 is about the only thing selling vista for me at the moment. Why I would spend $200 on an DRM infested OS otherwise is beyond me. Oye I degress.

Yeah, I think I'll wait a bit.

Crysis is a DX9 game using some features of DX10. No idea if it's gonna run on Xp, but to make it Vista only would be a deathwish for the dev team.
