Currently have Denon 1909 for about 9 years now. Gonna replace it, having little issues.
My choices are:
Pioneer Elite vsx-45
Pioneer Elite vsx-90
Yamaha Rx v679
any thoughts?

Just have 5.1, have no intention of adding other speakers, let alone in my ceiling, (hence no Dolby Atmos). Do not watch Blu-Rays anymore (use Kodi for movies now). Netflix, and regular TV.....

Thanks.

I have a Yamaha 579 that replaced a dead Denon 1611. It's performed well with no complaints. I have similar usage with streaming plus Kodi. If I was buying now I would go with Denon or another company that offers Audysee. I could tell it did a better job over the Yamaha version.

Interesting, and I was leaning towards either the Pioneer vsx-45, or Yammy 679

Nothing but rave reviews for the Denon S710W.
Denon X1200W refurb is only $399.99 on amazon if you aren't afraid of a refurb (normally $599) - comes with audyssey silver.

The X1200W is going to be my next receiver.

From your choices the vsx90 is the most expensive and supports the next gen CODECs. If you are willing to spend that much, I recently got the Marantz NR1606 for ~$550 off Amazon. Highly recommend it It is one of the cheapest receivers I can find that supports next gen CODECs and has pre-outs for the LEFT/RIGHT and it's a slimline.

IMO it's a waste to spend lots of money on sound quality off a surround receiver. I'm not saying it's possible, it just costs too much money. With pre-outs, if you ever later want better 2 channel music, it allows you do to so.
