Replacing tires

Well my wife ran over something in her car (this is from the other thread) and it jammed in horizontally, isntead of straight in like a nail/screw. Took it to tire place and they said they couldn't fix it, and they don't have my size tire in stock.

2004 Mazda 3, Original Tires are

Would putting 2 of these on the back suffice, or am I stuck replacing the entire 4?

The original set doesnt have much wear yet, but my wife drives conservatively. I remember another thread where NFS4 said his stock on Mazda 3 were torn up within 17k miles or something, but I dont recall if these are the same.

I'm a firm believer that Eagle RS-A's should be replaced ASAP...your car will love you for it.

Yeah didnt realize how sucky these were, though in the winter I had an idea...

Apparently we dropped the ball on rotating these on her car... Is every 5000 miles really important? I think these only got rotated once at the 16k mark.

You can mix and match tires, with a conservative driver it probably won't make a difference. In a perfect world you want them all to match for maximum tread life, ride quality, traction, and wear & tear to your vehicle's components. Is that worth another $170? I'd probably do it if it were me, especially given the tire upgrade you'll be getting. Stock tires pretty much always suck

Every oil change is the best time to do it, to equalize wear. Its best for the tire's longevity. Just get the new ones rotated at every oil change. Some places will do it for free since it is a 5 minute job (so long as you don't have wheels with diff offsets/sizes, which I'm 99% sure you don't), but if you don't do your own oil changes find a place that (A) knows Mazda's since those engines have stupid oil filter designs (at least the Mazda3's do) and (B) that will throw in the rotation cheap/free.

Just a thought but have you tried a place that sells used tires? Maybe you can find a used one in your size till your ready to replace all 4.

You should rotate every 6,000 miles, or approximately every 6-months.

Running mis-matched tires is fine. Always place the new tires at the back of FWD car.

Running mismatched tires ona track would be bad but ig she is not doing any spirited canyon carving she will be fine.
