Sony used the ps3 to push blu-ray. That is most of the reason it cost so much at launch.
My internet is constantly on on my 360 and I never move it from the tv stand. This product is compatible with my situation.
Steam isn't always-on though. If your connection drops, it won't kick you out of a single payer game. It also only requires you to periodically log in. So you can launch and play games offline, such as if you're on a laptop.
It's too bad that we have to wait so long to hear what MS has to say about these rumors. That's just going to allow for 6 more weeks of leaks and rumors to build bad press for the nextbox. But maybe they will surprise all of us and hit it out of the park. I know that with my gaming time dwindling, I will most likely have to be a one console gamer next gen, so I want to see what MS is doing.
It's funny, because I tell myself I would hate to lose out on Halo and Gears, but I play through the story once, play a little online, and then move on to the next game. I am pretty sure I would be just fine without them. The only saving grace for MS is the fact that my group of friends will most likely be jumping onto their next console.Personally I don't care what MS is doing. Bungie is delivering a new game to Sony's system and I can't play Sony's exclusives anywhere else so I have pretty much no reason to buy another xbox system, not even for Halo anymore.

Yeah I know what you're saying. Though most people I know locally who are gamers and I've played with online all seem to be going with the PS4. I guess they saw enough good news and info to sway them.
I just feel like the way Halo 4 ended was a fitting end for the whole thing. I have a feeling deep down that they are going to ruin it by trying to keep it going. I may be wrong and I hope I am because the Halo universe is really interesting to me and was well done.
Who knows though, in a couple years I might just have both lol.
Everyone can say "oh I liked what Sony said about the PS4 so I am going with that" all day until MS comes out and says things they want to hear even more. I think what really will decide who wins this battle will be what they actually deliver on.
I was thinking about buying a next gen console right away, but I kind of think I might wait and see what they actually deliver on. I am a little skeptical of Sony, because they have promised stuff and never delivered on it before.Everyone can say "oh I liked what Sony said about the PS4 so I am going with that" all day until MS comes out and says things they want to hear even more. Yeah, I am right there with you.I'm skeptical of Microsoft because of all the rumors that are the exact opposite of what I want to hear. Moving to subscription model, always on internet, possible forced kinect integration etc.
I sincerely hope these are all not going to happen and they remain just rumor and not based on fact.
i just want to link this again because people are taking this "always on" thing completely out of context IMO.
http://www.vgleaks.com/durango-xdk/
look at the last picture, 2nd paragraph.
read where it talks about "always on, always connected" and everything surround it.
to me, that reads as in "if you have your durango plugged in with network connection, you will be able to get updates and installs behind the scenes whether you are there or not".
ridiculous how this has turned into the whole "YOU NEED INTERNET TO PLAY GAMES!!!" by all the morons out there.

Regarding the console's rumoured "always-online" component, Thurrot reiterated what we knew already - that previous Microsoft design documents have mentioned the feature.
"Looking at some of the stuff I got a long time ago, it actually says 'must be internet-connected to use' in the notes," Thurrot claimed. "And that's all I have, but it does say that."
Recently-leaked internal documentation dated to last year referenced the console's "always on, always connected" design.
Too bad you missed this
I'll likely be giving a <^> to MS this next generation. I made the mistake of getting a 360 before PS3. I won't be making that mistake again. Sony seems the be the only one not intentionally telling their customers to blow themselves and swallow.
Do they even have a name for it? How bout the GoWHaloCoDM4Box?

So does that mean we won't have to listen to your bullshit next gen, or are you going to keep up with your trolling?
