Semi-automatic assault rifles?
Even those. They magically make your finger move at 20 pulls per second. Shit is amazing.
LOL
Does it even engage and unengage the safety between each round for MOAR SAFETY?
Goodness there are so much clueless about weapons in this case from numerous sources.
AR-15s are "high powered assault rifles"?
The attackers had "assault style clothings"?
Also, LOL @ 20 bullets per second semi gun statement.

Reporter said this AM that the perps made the rifles "more powerful" because they added the fore grip. And don't forget that they are even more dangerous when they are painted black. Something about the rifle being black makes somehow turns the owner into a soulless killing machine.

That would be illegal.But.... Did it have an adjustable stock?!????!?!
That would be illegal.
No but it had sling swivels. How bad ass is that?Don't you dare tell me it had a bayonet lug though. I will lose my shit, that's so illegal.

The number of murders committed by "bat shit crazy fucks," e.g., Aurora theater shooter, is probably less than 1% of all murders - if not, it's definitely less than 10% of all murders. Thus, I don't think mental health is the problem. That seems to be the scapegoat every time some nut shoots up a place though, which is when it becomes a big public conversation again.
Well, almost all of the mass murder ones are. Sure, when you take that as a % of the whole it's not like it's 30% of all murders. But if you're saying that these aren't important because it's a small % of the whole, why are we even having this discussion?
Let's take a look at some of recent mass murders:
- San Bernardino
- Sandy Hook
- Virginia Tech
- Umpqua Community College
- Seal Beach
- Charleston
- Washington Navy Yard
- Aurora
- Manchester
Which of those shooters would you classify as roughly mentally stable?
How many were say a robbery gone bad and a shootout followed vs. an intent to just kill a bunch of people because the shooter is unstable?
Even if it's just 10%, it's the worst 10% and ones that could be avoided if we, as a society, handled mentally unstable people differently than we do today.
Start by not giving them guns. Follow that up with treatment so they don't slip off the deep end in the first place.
Unfortunately these guns appear to have been purchased years ago, so even here it wouldn't have helped. That's why I say we need to handle people with mental health issues better. Before bad things happen.

In this specific case, the shooter apparently pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Good thing the NSA is mass sweeping data and not stopping these types of events. Shouldn't this guy have been investigated before the incident? Put into a mental health institute of sorts?
Also, many of these shooting happen in gun free zones. Schools, churches, movie theaters, auditoriums.... Maybe we should stop that practice.
