I use AT&T DSL, 4chan loads fine.

I have AT&T DSL and can load 4chan.org but not img.4chan.org and /b/ I get "Connection Interrupted"
/b/ loaded for me but took a long time.

/hc/ loads immediately.

Haven't visited this site in a year. Now, I'll probably waste a couple of hours looking at the dregs.

If you don't like the service that AT&T provides than switch internet providers. Nothing is forcing you to have an AT&T service.

What if AT&T and Comcast are the only two offering service in my area and they both censor? Is that how this will end?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bullshit, maybe in some cities people are free to switch to Comcast from AT&T, but I am in a rural area, AT&T is my monopoly phone provider, and I have no such choice.

Meanwhile I am waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting to even get vanilla dsl service from AT&T, and they clearly have a public be damned attitude.

But one bright spot, we can now all tell all subscription based TV delivery systems you are fired, and thanks to the digital TV transition, we can get better than cable quality pictures over the air for free.

There is also satellite (which I can get anywhere in the world on my boat) or dial-up. Nothing forces you to have DSL or Cable. So yes, there are alternatives. You might not like the cost or speed but alternatives are there.

Satellite blows. File download is better than dialup for relatively small files (larger ones often fail with a reset) but browsing isn't much faster and oftentimes slower than dialup. I guess technically, there is an alternative, but not realistically.

HughesNet, WildBlue, DirectTV, EarthLink, NetZero, PeoplePC, Juno, FreeDialup just to name a few that are nation wide.

If there is demand than another company will come along...Isn't capitalism great?

layman talking about markets right here. I can taste the naivete.

Hell, that sounds like a great name for a new chocolate/hazelnut flavoured spread!

Sounding more and more like AT&T's block was due to the DDoS'ing of /b/ and the network congestion it causes for them. Had absolutely nothing to do with censorship.

Yeah, it's unblocked for me now, albeit slow.

I think I read somewhere just after it was unblocked someone's DDoSing /b again lol. I don't really understand whats going on - is this some lame ass 'we ain't got shit to do, let's DDoS... /b sounds good' or some 'war' between the chans or ebaumsworld or something?

I can't wait until more and more groups of 'smart kids with angst' start realizing they can make real change in our political system..

internet censorship, anonymity, ip law, drug law, civil liberty... all within their reach if they want it to be

btw, today's 'smart kids with angst' will be running the world eventually.. every generation gets its turn

I believe they call it liberty. Freedom of speech, freedom of individuals, not wasting money on a futile drug war, et cetera.

Yes...in some sort of twisted way, anarchy is the epitome of 'freedom' and 'liberty'.

an·ar·chy
1 a: absence of government b: a state of lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental authority c: a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government
2 a: absence or denial of any authority or established order b: absence of order

Your right...these 'smart kids with angst' can make real change in our political system...and will probably do so by 'hook or crook'.

There is a current raid thread on /b/ right now against the guy who unleashed DDoS attacks on 4chan last night after the ban was lifted. Pics, address, name, phone numbers, and IP addys. He's fucked.

edit: they just posted his SSN...

Can't say that I'd feel bad if a worthless site like 4chan was blocked. It does more harm than good.

What religion are you? Or are you agnostic? Whatever your beliefs, I wouldnt feel bad outlawing it, because it does more harm than good. And it doesnt affect me anyway.

See where Im going here?

Well I'm not saying that we should establish the precedent that blocking sites is OK for ISPs. But how many crimes or threatened crimes come out because of 4chan. It's a bunch of worthless people with no life congregating, which is never a good thing. Hacking email accounts of politicians, "attacking" people and other sites and causing them hell, posting threats that always have to be taken seriously and end up wasting my money on a police investigation. They deserve to be taken down and prosecuted for what they have done.

And I'm not religious.
