Paul always seems so repetitive but he always just gets asked the same questions - I guess not his fault.

Definitely..he's staying positive and really pointing out the terrible form of questioning coming from the moderators.

Huckabee kicked ass especially with the last question, was waiting for someone to say they don't have the right to speak for Reagan. Too bad he is a nutcase.

I thought Huckabee did the best, though it probably won't make a difference.

McCain held his own, but Romney looked really pissed for a lot of it

actually agreed with a couple of Paul's answers.

What kind of politicians schedule a debate to conflict with the Mythbusters plane-on-a-treadmill episode? I have to question the judgment of all these candidates.

I wish Paul would have done a better job when asked about being the Commander in Chief. Just the wrong angle, IMO. Bringing up the fact that he gets more campaign donations from active duty military than anyone else would have been good. I would also have noted that a CIC should use the military responsibly, and brought up Reagan's quote, "Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means."

Saw him in person last Saturday. Him and Paul are the only ones worth voting for.

Well, McCain really bombed tonight. Yikes. Huckabee was well spoken, as was Romney...and Paul did okay, though Anderson was a wimp and let McCain and Romney muscle their way into the limelight for about 97 percent of the damn time.

CNN Political Analyst Bill Schneider says Huckabee was the Big winner

Huckabee, I think, stood out in this debate as the one who made sense, talked as ordinary people do, and rose above politics. They may have scored. He connected. And that?s a problem for Romney, who would like to become the alternative to John McCain among conservatives who oppose the Arizona senator. But he has very tough competition from Huckabee, who?s forcing people to re-think his run at a time when he was supposed to be out of the game.

But this has always been the way he?s worked: Romney uses money to stay competitive. Huckabee has debates.

I don?t think McCain made many gains ? and I think he may have caused people to re-think the race. I don?t think this was his strongest night, not because he was under attack. But because he wasn?t a straight talker. He talked very much like a politician. He was making a lot of charges at Romney ? some of which, like the timetable charge, seemed very questionable.

A couple of Romney?s answers were quite good, particularly on the Iraq timetables issue. I don?t think he did himself any harm. But I think the one who really helped himself was Huckabee.

All in all: Huckabee gained ground, McCain probably lost ground, and Romney didn?t help or hurt himself ? although he did effectively defend himself. McCain sounded petty ? and that?s not the McCain voters know and like.

But to the extent that Huckabee may have made any gains from his performance, Romney?s got bigger worries out of tonight than the Arizona senator.

Wow, this is exactly how I saw things as well. McCain always seems to get flustered and unpresidential. He got called on that lie about Romney and he should've just owned up to it. The audience was clearly on Romney's side (by applause).

The more I see McCain the more I dislike him. He comes off so arrogant and snide but in truth is a mental midget. He's acting like he has the GOP nomination and even the Presidency won already. What a pompous ass with his holier than thou attitude. He refuses to admit that he lied about Romneys statement about timetables for Iraq. I guess he believes that since he was a war hero that he is owed something. It seems like he's running his whole campaign on the Iraq war. He is wrong about so many issues that conservatives feel are important ....... he is a conservative wannabe. I am utterly amazed that people are buying his crap and lies. In my opinion he's the biggest flip flopper I have seen to date. Has anyone ever heard him answer a question fully without sidetracking to how he was the only one who supported the surge and what a great leader he is? I hope he gets the GOP nomination because he will lose and big!
Go Obama!

Agreed. The truth was still in McCain's favor--he literally did stake his career on the surge while Romney hedged. No doubt in my mind that had the surge failed Romney would still be on the right side of it while McCain would be in the shitter.

One of the reasons McCain's campaign was given up for dead so long ago was because he was the pro-war candidate when the war was at its worst. He was trying to highlight that but did it dishonestly.

it's a fair comparison against Romney.

McCain put his political career on the line, while Kerry... er, Romney gave a non-answer and flip-flopped.

Not my point ..... he wasn't the only one who supported the surge, and my apologies for not being clearer, Has anyone ever heard him answer a question fully without sidetracking off on a tangent about anything else but what was asked?
