What is Steve Scalise guilty of, that the public accepts from EVERY OTHER person? If their white it's a racist group that is banned. If not, they're a "civil rights" group. That's a standard of racism that cannot be accepted.

If this guy spoke at a racist organization knowing it was racists and did so because he himself supported those ideas and today he no longer does, then the racist in him was self executed and he has been forgiven by me. Now why isn't there at least as much outrage from the left over Obama's association with race baiter Al Sharpton and for all his lies that he's told the country? Hypocrites is the answer. Same group that freaks out about guns and wants to take them, every time there is a shooting.....same group who does not hesitate to abort / murder thousands of unborn children.
Spots are just physical camouflage for the environment. Seems to me like Byrd was born into a racist society and gradually came to be far more accepting. He does have the right to be considered for forgiven since he was young and he grew up surrounded by ignorance and bigotry in his hometown.
As far as Scalise I do not know much about him so I can not comment with much authority. But he clearly was speaking at that rally for political support and while he might not be a true believer and supporter of racism he probably is not a true believer and supporter of anything. The main problem is not that some politician had done this but that the Republicans elevated him to the Republican House Majority Whip. This situation is 1st a problem for the Republicans and 2nd a problem for Scalise. And also there is no telling how much casualized racist legislation he is willing to support. He has the right to life and freedom regardless of him speaking at that conference but that does not mean we have to trust him as someone who is worth representing us as some elected American politician.

Today we should stand taller than white groups or black groups. It should be for the betterment of all Americans, of poor and impoverished of any color. To help all mankind, not any particular race. To do otherwise is to carry forth racism well past the 20th century. We can do better than that, but it seems we struggle greatly at letting go of the past.

exactly.. this is typical of the liberal-progressive machine that controls most of the mainstream media. they see a conservative as a threat to their continued political agenda so they set out to destroy them..
they tried, and failed to do it to Boehner when he was set to be voted Speaker of the House, they have been trying to politically assassinate Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and have not been successful to date.. their latest attempt, Chris Christie and "Bridgegate" turned out to be a non-story.
This Scalise thing, I think it has to do with some perception that with the Republicans winning control of the Senate, that somehow that will make House leadership more powerful, so let's find an excuse to attack them.
Their next target.. Jeb Bush. Watch, it will happen.
Now to be fair, if the tables were turned, and we had a majority conservative leaning mainstream media, they would be doing the exact same thing (trying to destroy politically) those on the left that they saw as a threat.

The Media is not Liberal, other than from a far right fringe whack perspective. The Media is actually rather conservative because they depend on advertising revenue to survive, which comes from a conservative business community.
really.. well then, if the media is so under the conservative business influence, tell me.. why do we get weeks after week of reports about "Bridgegate".. what about all the whining about Scott Walker? Va Gov McDonnell was a hot topic for a while and they tried going after Rick Perry for a bit and now they are hot on this Scalise guy - YET we hear nothing about Sharpton who still owes more than $4 million in taxes, or Charlie Rangel and his shenanigans? .. What about that congressman in Louisiana were the feds found a hundred grand stuffed in his freezer? The John Edwards scandal that too wasn't a big deal. Hell some are still whining about Bush V Gore and even Iran-Contra..
