French are an easy joke target. But remember, there is also Germany, Russia, China who oppose the war.
We can also make jokes about the countries who support the war.
Most of them know how to surrender no worse than the French do.

No I've never read what the Frogs Politico's have said. I assume they say that Bush is stupid and an ignorant Cowboy because that's what the rest of the world is saying (even some of the Democratic Politicians here say that). Like everybody else I've heard it a million times. I wouldn't doubt that prior to dropping out of the Republican Presidential race McCain probably said it too. Still it doesn't help matters much when we are trying to get France to change their mind to have our lawmakers question their fortitude and their national pride. It's best to leave that up to the general public.

How is voicing a point of humor about the situation litmus for the effort that is afforded the job? Why do you perceive humor to be indicative of said people's not "busting their asses"? Would you have touted the same if a representative which you esteemed had said the same or worse?

If anything, this expressing of a nation's barbed jests are representative of the fact that niceties are wearing thin - time is a luxury not for the having, for anyone - and France has for too long benefited from the U.S. while showing the world a face of being indifferent.
