The self-described disgruntled conservative castoffs of the nation that somehow have been made to feel victimized by "the system" and "the establishment" of which their own legislators are an integral part of but by some miracle aren't in their eyes (lol) found their champion in Trump because this was the guy that could and did stick it to "the system" no matter how many laws and protocols he broke and violated, Constitution be damned. All that matters is that he delivers the hurt and the revenge....for them.
They stick with Trump because there is no one else that would do the things he does in the ways he does it, like stealing highly classified documents and refusing to give them up. In his cult followers eyes he was "sticking it to the man" for them and "stuck it to the man again" for them by fomenting an insurrection. Never mind that the only person he was and always is concerned about is himself. They like to believe he's bucking the system for them because Trump tells them that and they in turn believe that chronic liar because it's sweet music to their ears.
All Trump has really being doing is playing his supporters for suckers by getting them to help him fulfill his own needs and selfish desires. But what has he done for them in real and meaningful ways one might ask? More jobs? Shrunk the deficit? Passed an infrastructure bill? Expanded NATO? Built a wonderful impenetrable wall and have Mexico pay for it? Passed a much better health plan than Obamacare? Permanent substantial tax cuts for the working class? Bring back millions of jobs from overseas? But then that's not nice to ask them questions like that now is it?
