Attempting to stifle differences of opinion is ridiculous!

For 'Goodness' sake, if you don't like a particular thread.... move on.

Limiting a thread to only a single brand of component would be just stupid.

all that stuff is platform specific anyways.

this doesnt have much to do with how busy the OC forum is ~ its more about cleaning it up. (less threads that you arent interested in, have to skip over, etc) i personally dont read any AMD threads unless its a friends thread.

lots of great info falls to the bottom very quickly ~ then the repost questions start all over again

i thought it was a good idea ~ oh well

I agree...

I don't think it is needed. If I want info on AMD OCing, I know how to use the ever present search.

That sounds pretty reasonable, but some alternative suggestions are equally reasonable. One question I do have is what will happen to all the old threads. Someone will have to sort through them all and move part of the threads to one of the new catagories while the rest are placed in the other. I doubt that Zuni or the Mods will welcome that responsibility. However if one of you were to volunteer to do this, then you might have a chance. Peace.

The OCing forum is far from too busy! Click on the "home" button and you will see. "General Hardware" has 5104 Topics, and the "CPU/Processor and Overclocking" only has 1260.

Personally, I see no reason to split it up.

I often switch from AMD to Intel and back and I would like to see 2 seperate forums. Its just less confusuion that way and easier for people to find things.

Where would you put memory comparison tests?...the same RAM could be used on both AMD and Intel..

I see AMD and Intel overclocking related. One forums is plenty, and while I am exclusively AMD these days, I still read up on Intel overclocks. The Intel vs. AMD threads will never end, and if we split up Intel and AMD cpu's, then why not split up memory overclocking, motherboard, Nvidia and ATI, ect. If we have trouble finding things, perhaps a better/more specific search engine is the way to go.

Disagree.
Segregated overclockers are not a good thing. We must unite, not seperate and be ingorant to one another. Seperating will only create more of a 'fanboyism' towards a specific CPU company, which is in all accounts, ridiculous.

I would just make a section dedicated to OCing, of all types. Then just add some stickys with how tos, buyers guides, and the such. I think that might clear up some of the problems.

While I agree it might be good to split the o/c forum, I think some forums need to be combined.

Most of the time, you can find the same type of posts General Hardware and Peripherials since they're basically the same thing most of the time. So you gotta look in both.

Also get rid of Technical Support since anything posted there could also be posted in the appropriate related forum. Again, you gotta look in both.

And I'm unsure about needing a Software and an Operating Systems forum.

I agree with Thugs. Split it up. makes finding answers much simpler. This is a resource after all.

I've got to say I don't think splitting is a good idea.

I remember as a n00b, sifting thru the CPU/OC forum, looking for nuggets of knowledge, rejoicing when I found info. I was into both and am interested in both makes now. I enjoyed it and learnt a great deal. In fact I still do.

Most of the information is generic. The processes, the testing methods and the subsystems. The principles can be applied across platforms.

If you had to split them I'd say go for an Overclocking topic. This would cover ALL CPU's, memory, GFX cards and anything else you want to OC. Then have a CPU topic that would discuss upcoming technologies, manufacture process types, speeds and, of course, the usual I vs A trash talk
