I have been out of the PC Building Loop for a while so I figured I'd request a critique on this build.
I will be building 2 nearly identical systems. One for the wife (currently on a 10 year old PC) and myself (currently on a 7 year old PC).
1. Use: E-Mail, Web, Casual Gaming (me).
2. ~$600 a piece.
3. USA
4. Last few systems have been AMD. Extremely tempted by SandyBridge.
5. Reusing Monitors.
6. I've read the other threads and am hoping to have assimilated the knowledge.
7. No overclocking
8. 1900x1080 is my LCD native resolution. On a budget build like this I don't expect to run at that resolution for games. I am a casual gamer.
9. Tax refund coming soon. A week or two.
10. Not thin skinned. I'm here to learn.
System:
Biostar TH67+ 1155 - $105 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138296
Intel Core i3-2100 - $125 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115078
Mushkin 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 133 [Splitting this between the two systems] - $82 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226095
GeForce GTS 450 1GB GDDR5 [Only my system, using Intel's HD 2000 IGP on wife's]- $115 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125341
WD Caviar Blue 500GB - $40 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136769
ASUS 24X DVDR - $18 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204
USB KB/Mouse - $19 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126097
Rosewill R101-P-BK Micro ATX Case Mid-Tower - $30 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147112
Antec Green 380W PS - $40 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371033
Or how about this APEVIA case? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144224
Windows 7 Home Premium - $100 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116754
Questions:
Am I correct in my assumption my Case / MB / Power Supply will fit together?
Is my power supply sufficient for my Video Card?
Am I able to split the 2 sticks of 4GB RAM so each system runs on one?
Are the manufacturers I have selected still reputable?
Misc:
In a year or two I would reserve the right to swap out the i3 processors for i5's or i7's as well as upgrade the memory to either 8 or 16 GB.
Feel free to offer any other suggestions you may feel are appropriate.
Thank you,
