I recently got into red wines, I bought a bottle and drank a glass. Is it ok to re-seal the bottle and if so how should I store it and for how long?

How Long Can I Store Red Wine?

Q: How long is a red wine good for once it is opened, even if it is corked? And I hear refrigerating a red will ruin it. True?

A: : Refrigerating wine doesn't ruin it. In fact, it slows down the spoilage. As to how long you can keep it under refrigeration, I'd say two to five days, depending on the wine. Wines in gallon jugs can last longer. However, I've noticed that red wines, especially the better wines, are never as good after they have been kept in the refrigerator, even when brought to room temperature, which you should do before drinking. If the remainder of a newly opened bottle of wine will be consumed entirely the following day, I'd recommend keeping it at room temperature, preferably in the coolest area. Since air is the enemy of wine, one tip for storage of leftover wine is to pour the contents of a full bottle (750ml) into an empty half bottle (375ml). This reduces the amount of air that comes in contact with the wine in the bottle.

This works pretty well for me

It's only good for a couple of days And it doesn't work PERFECTLY.

BTW if it were me, I'd drink it all right now. I have NO problem putting away a bottle of wine. If you want a wine such as what you're drinking that carries a lot more baggge and will piss off the wine snobs go pick up the Doubouef beajolais nouveau. It's quite tasty this year.

This is what we use too - I think it works ok and it extends the life of the wine by a couple of days

Definitely get a vacuum sealer -- it can prolong a wine for very little expense. The best way to keep a wine stable after opening is to get those cans of inert air that you can find in good wine stores. I've never used one, but I've read they work very well.

Of course, for something like Beaujolais Nouveau, just drink it!

The vacuum things work well. It's just a rubber cork and a plastic pump and you pump it a few times to get the air out and it keeps it fresher for much longer. Can get them anywhere like Target or even WalMart probabbly. Or at fancy cooking stores...
