LOL! That's a great picture man.

I chopped all the hair and beard off last September. What a PITA to take care of...first time in my life I had hair that long...rarely even over my ears.

We were at Costco this afternoon. They have a 73" Mitsubishi DLP set...:Q

WHAT A PICTURE!!
Possibly the best picture quality in the store. Of course, at $2000 it better be good...and it's out of my price range...but WOW!

Yes, but is your viewing distance 9-12 feet?

BoomerD, they have the Mitsubishi 73" for $2k at tigerdirect.com with free shipping and no tax. Until yesterday they had 15% cashback through bing. If they run a promo like that again, you could get it for $1700. They also have the 65" version for $1600, which would be $1360 after cashback. This is assuming that they'll bring back that cashback deal, which might not happen. It's sitting at 5% right now.

Thanks, but tigerdirect is the last place I want to do business with...I'd rather go to Walmart...
Seriously, with their crappy reputation and poor customer service...the small savings just isn't worth it to me.
(The 73 inch DLP isn't being considered...I was merely commenting on the outstanding picture quality...it was fabulous...the best picture quality I've seen since we started looking.

Well, I was getting ready to post that that's way too close, but I see that it's only a little bit above the THX recommended 36-degree viewing angle (38.4 to be exact).

I'll try watching the game tonight sitting 5 feet from my plasma to achieve the same viewing angle you have. It's going to be darned uncomfortable sitting on my coffee table though

Actually, you're exactly right.

The worst/funniest part is, once she actually experiences a 50"+ TV, she'll be the first one to announce that she can't ever watch on a crappy little screen again.

+1. my GF went through this exact process 3 years ago when I bought the plasma.

I agree that once she get to experience Martha Stewart in life-size glory...she'll wonder how she ever lived without it... It's just convincing her that we need to spend the money to do it...and get rid of her entertainment center.

Well...to placate her for now, I picked up a Toshiba 27" today that was built in 2005. EXCELLENT condition, works like a champ...and best of all, it makes the wife happy.
We did come to a compromise though...once we get our daughter and her kids out of the house, I get to turn one of the bedrooms into a home theater room...
It works for me since I really don't watch a helluva lot of "regular" tv anyway, but do enjoy a movie from time to time.

I don't watch tv except for the informative programming, football (not the amerikisky one) and hockey.

Unfortunately my home theatre setup is commandeered by my five year old til he goes to bed

Currently on Bolt watch... I think I am in the 40+ times now.

I haven't updated this in quite a while...

Now that I have something of an operational tv again, It's put buying a new one back into "research mode."

I haven't been out to Worst Buy or Sears to look at them yet, BUT, I like the idea of the LED tv's.

Anyone have any input/information on them? How do they compare to the plasma sets, and to the Mitsubishi DLP sets?
(I'm still madly in love with that 73" set at Costco...and it's only $1799)
