<< The ResellerRatings database is still up. >>

The most important half, the customer comments, links to the old URL and comes up with a permission denied.

%$#! Are you serious? Damn I thought I'd be able to at least save it locally but without that, it's kinda worthless.

What handy dandy application can save an entire website locally to a hard drive?

<< I'd gladly pay for it, in a NY minute. I also happen to understand business survival. >>

Well, we have one taker! ;-)

The fact is, the vast majority of people bail-out when their favorite websites are hurting for money. First, they ask for donations, and people complain because they're merely asking - nicely. Then when that doesn't work, they charge a small and reasonable fee, then everyone bails like rats from a sinking ship.

You know it, and I know it.

The rule seems to be...if you're gonna charge for it, its best to charge for it from square one. Once people get accustomed to it for free...

<< Yeah, Earthweb sucks. First, they destroy Sysopt.com and now Resellerratings.com.

Here is the link. BTW, TechIMO.com was created by the guy who created Sysopt.com and was then booted from it. Then, a mass exodus occurred, leaving sysopt.com a shell of what it was...

Sysopt.com was my first message board addiciton... I was elite there...

>>

You mean ultimate? There were no elites, and anyone could get ultimate status by post count. I was one of many ultimates. Sysopt was a great board, and much of the community migrated over to Techimo.

Internet.com sucks. The way they let go of Scott and his staff, then banned moderator's/member's accounts without warning or provocation, and the censoring of posts that broke no stated rules.

And their further mistakes with resellerratings.com makes me wonder how this company stays in business.

Teleport Pro is a spider which will suck down a Web site using all references within a URL

I have used it over the last 4-5 years to dig up research for kids by feeding an output page from a search engine.

Another guy uses it to download horse racing results from a web site to put into a handicap spreadsheet for his use.

I cannot afford to pay for web sites/forums. There are just too many that I use. I don't use recurring subscriptions (except for cell phone and cable modem) because they nickel and dime your budget down to nothing. If internet sites are all moving to pay for use, I will just quit using them.

Another thread at Sysopt

Is there anyone making a ResellerRating replacement? If not...

I can help make one...or just flat out make one. Any ideas? LMK via PM or email. Thanks!

damnit! Think of all of the knowledge that is lost now. It'll take years to get another website up to the database size that resellerratings had. WHY THE F*CK??

ok, it works, except for the searching function. But you can browse by the name of the company, and all is well

RR gone? This is exceptionally lame and does a huge disservice to the smaller online merchants who built-up a great rating. They just got the cold shaft. Plus those consumer comments were useful.

I can't believe this was done without warning, either. Internet.com. I will remember them.
