My link isn't broken.

Compared to other solutions, that's a large amount of money. It's not quite in the range of the Zalman fanless case, but it's close.

BTW, I live in a cardboard box in an alley.

I'd rather spend that $300 on a complete liquid cooling system that uses up less space either next to the computer or wherever I put it. I'm even thinking that I might secure the radiator to the side of my desk (metal side panel with plenty of "ventilation" holes in it) so that it's not even inside the computer. If I go that way, I'd need to have some self-sealing connections between the inside and outside of the case, so that when I move the computer to the other room to work on it (that's what the dinner table is for) I won't have to worry about liquid spilling out all over the place. PLUS, that should reduce the amount of heat inside the case... I could use either screws or zip ties (if the holes don't line up) to hold the radiator... I'd probably want to mount the pump inside the case, or secure it to the right side panel...

I'll have to think over the placements more and do some dry runs when I actually get the hardware. It might not be viable to mount the radiator to the desk. Then again, it might work out just fine.

It was the first two times I tried it. But now that I've seen it I can say that it's inappropriate and provocative without some indication that its use was intended as a joke. Remember, I don?t have a sense of humor unless I can plainly tell that something is meant in jest.

Whether it's a large amount of money is based on the user?s resources and how said user wants to run his/her machine, Nebor. As I thought I indicated quite well in my prior post. I?ve written PO?s at work for INSANELY powerful systems, with every bell and whistle imaginable, for people who are at best required to check email, word process and jack into an Oracle database now and then. All things are simply NOT equal.

Just for the record, I don?t expect you to address anything I just said. Also, where you live is immaterial to what I thought was the topic.

I've come to the conclusion that you cannot possibly function in society as a regular person. You haven't any sense of humor.

You're wrong. As I've already explained:

"It was the first two times I tried it. But now that I've seen it I can say that it's inappropriate and provocative without some indication that its use was intended as a joke. Remember, I don?t have a sense of humor unless I can plainly tell that something is meant in jest."

It's your job to indicate to ME that you're fooling around. It isn't inherently "funny" to be equated to a crack whore simply because I linked a product that YOU feel is too expensive. What you need to consider is that not everyone is going to automatically understand, or condone, abusive language or references without some indication that they're offered in fun. You might even try treating others as they treat you, on an individual basis.

Our first disagreement was based on you calling me a ?smartass.? Considering how that exchange turned out, I would have thought you?d understand by now. I have no wish to engage in word-wars. But I do insist that I be treated with the same respect and deference I afford others. There?s nothing wrong with that, nothing.

So if someone calls you a crackhead in real life, you're gonna get angry? Because they really think you're a crackhead?

It seems this thread has gotten outta hand, The original point was covered.
I have nothing against you two (nebor and hardwarrior) but arguements really can take place through personal messages.

Thanks for both for your inputs regarding my thread.

As an aside, the written american-english language is perhaps one of the worst languages for expressing sarcasm. It cannot be detected unless it is outright, or spoken with tone. Many people, including myself, have gotten tripped up by what was supposedly sarcastic comment. It happens.

Unless there are other anandtech folks with watercooling advice, this thread has served its purpose.

The real question is why you feel the need to act out at my expense when I've already indicated that I don't like it, Nebor.

I've known you for a while now, I feel comfortable joking with you. But you just don't get it... It's baffling to me that you can survive in the world with your attitude. Learn to take a joke, I'm never going to seriously insult you! We might have conflicts of opinion, but it's no big deal!

I "take jokes" all the time, Nebor. It's just that I usually have the benefit of both knowing the person (I have friends I've been around for 35-years who play VERY rough) and having facial expressions to work with. Okay, fair enough. The next time you say something dumb to me or associate me with a nasty picture I'll assume you're joking. You just remember to do the same. Okay?

Has anyone bought one of these yet?

If I put it on the GPU and CPU, will that overload it? I don't plan on overclocking when I get an AMD64 CPU.

I think someone posted about running the water through the PSU somehow? If all that stuff (CPU, PSU, GPU) were all connected to this Reserator, would it be too much for it to handle?

BTW, is AMD going with BTX or is that an Intel only thing?

your better off buying a passively cooled psu then trying to fiddle with it and killing yourself.
i dunno if the reserator could do the gpu too, might, but the whole systemw ould run hotter.. as would any other water cooling system. your better off getting one of those huge zalman heatsinks for gpus and running a near silent fan on it. or if you really hardcore, a 2nd resorator run resorators in series? lol that or go hardcore and get multiple dangerdens or thermochill radiator blocks with low rpm fans..

i looked into the koolance, and its design just looks bad for silence. fans blowing up direct noise right at you

the thought has crossed my mind, although have two reserators underneath your desk, or on your desk takes up quite a bit of space

You are talking about two somewhat large cylinders that are 2' high each... and 500$ worth of equipment...

So would you hook them up in series, or have them each cool seperate parts?

I'm probably going to be getting a reserator and a water cooled power supply. I THINK the reserator can handle all of it without melting down....

I personally cannot see the feasibility of using 2 reserators in parallel for several components because of the added cost - Im sure the reserator will do fine cooling a medium overclocked processor, northbridge, and video card.

But if the video card is one of these new ones overclocked, and the processor is heavily overclocked adn is a prescott - i would have to personally see or read of someone pulling this off before i would try it. myself.

well for the seriously silent hardcore people it would be i bet. passive cooled zalman case is 1.5k alone u know i bet the 2 reserator either seperately or in series would be more then enoughto cool the fastest oc'd systems.

I concur. And the Reserator isn't ridiculously expensive.

It also isn't designed to handle more than 90w of heat. You asking for it if you try to cool a CPU, GPU AND PSU.

Good point, for the people who would strongly consider silent computing + overclockability with a budget, 2 zalmans reserators do appear to be a better route, maybe the only route for the "silent" aspect.

I guess the point is, no Bling, no silent. (Nebor has spent $500+, I know I have spent well over 100$ for fans and heatsinks)

Also, true, the only other option for silent computing is that 1200$ 55 pound case by zalman. Suddenly $500 sounds a bit nicer.

Slightly off the topic, how would one water cool their psu? There isnt much space for tubing, and the heatsinks are quite large. I take it the first step would be to create your own custom cooling plates...

Cool Current sells a water cooled PSU. I plan on buying mine, warranty and all.

I'll probably start off with just CPU and GPU, and see how it does. If I don't think I can cool the PSU (before I order it) with it as well, I guess I'll either get another reserator, or get a fanless power supply. I don't think a fanless power supply can work in a case with no airflow though...
