You'd also be in jail. Then you wouldn't get to see your kid being born. There's also the chance that you'd meet someone who handily pummels you in the parking lot. Just because they're an a-hole doesn't mean they can't fight.

way to take things out of context genius.

Whiney ass crybaby pale kids need the excercise more than the pregnant women. How about shop at Amazon if you can't walk an extra few feet? Good grief:roll:

The logic of dedicating parking spaces for pregnant women doesn't seem to work for me. If the store has free electric mobility carts/chairs (whatever they are called) I guess it would make some sense. However, if they don't have such devices the woman is going to be walking all around the store/mall anyway so the parking space really doesn't matter much.

It seems to me this is nothing more than a cheap feel good gesture designed to make those incapable of critical thought think the property management is all warm and fuzzy.

That being said, if someone wants to do this for their business they certainly should be able to. I wouldn't support mandatory spaces however. And yes, I would give up my seat to pregnant woman, elderly person or handicapped person if the situation arose.

That doesn't exactly look out of context to me. Looks like you might be exagerating your point, however, his response is perfectly valid as sarcasim and humor have a difficult time carrying over text for some people.

To further elaborate my dislike for these spots: I have no problem if you want to give preg women handicap stickers for the duration of their pregnancy. However having unenforacble spots like that is a bad idea. It just brews contempt in alot of people as we can see demonstrated here.

Make the extra 3 or 6 spaces that you want to use for pregnant women into handicap spots and I won't have an issue with it.

But my previous point still stands, you're still going to end up walking around the mall a whole lot further than any distance in the parking lot. If you *REALLY* need to go shopping, you should get a friend to drop you off at the curb instead of driving yourself and hoping for a close spot because you have difficulty walking.

If you were the property owner, you would see the absolute brilliance of it. Pregnant women are most likely going to be buying a TON of stuff for the new baby. Clothes, diapers, stuff for the baby's room, car seats, strollers... add to that the fact that she's going to need new clothes for herself as her body is expanding. If you can persuade her to shop at your mall instead of the one down the street because you make her feel welcome, you'll do it. That parking spot might make the mall more money in a day than any other parking spot in the lot will in a week or more. I doubt that the few whiney little teenaged boys that might not want to shop at the mall just because of a couple of parking spots for pregnant women will make much of a difference in the bottom line.

In NJ I've only seen them at the Babys-R-Us. Why get so bent out of shape? Its the people with no physical problem who have the handicap stickers that irritates me. Or the self-important bastard who can't be bothered to put the cart back and leaves it up against your car. Common courtisy just isn't so common.

i only really see it in supermarket lots. which makes sense.
and i dont really see it as a pain in the ass. i never park close anyway. people are too out of the minds-crazy for parking that close. its the parking lot heart of darkness. why anyone would give a damn about a "good space" is beyond me.
i cant imagine even the most remote parking to be so terribly far as to actually count as excercise, so i wouldnt worry about straining too much if i were you.

Who the hell cares? Are you too lazy to let a pregnant woman get a parking spot nearer to the store? Normally I dont think Pregnant Women should get special treatment just cause they got knocked up, but in this case who really gives a crap? Its not like they are getting to cut in line at a store in front of you or being able to get better water than you, its a freakin parking spot.

Indeed.

If a woman is pregnant let her f0cking park closer. No big deal. Hopefully one day your SO will be pregnant also and she can park closer instead of having to walk further.

It is no big deal.

Umm, I would certainly hope your mother isn't driving.

Watch how they walk: slowly, while sometimes putting on hand behind theiir back, on their spine, for support, and as if they were in pain.

Now, why the eff do they need exercise when the doc recommends moving around little bits only? These places are big enough as they are, and they don't need to move around a lot.

Ummmm... no. I have had two children. It all depends on the womans circumstances, but for the most part, speaking for myself only... I was told by my Gyno to stay moderately active all the way up until the day of delivery. In fact they made me walk around in the hospital while I was in labor to expedite delivery! Ugh.. that was painful.

Anyway, I don't think it is a law, however, the stores do it to show consideration for the pregnant mother. Yes, by the 2nd and 3d trimester your clumsy, uncooridnated, and wadlle alot. Your back can only take so much weight. After awhile your back starts to hurt. Not to mention pregnant women get tired more easily.

One time I saw a guy pull into one of those "for pregnant mothers only" spots at the store. I was on my Harley, and hollered out to him, "So when is your due date.."? I never saw anyone walk faster in and out of the store than he did! LOL

No, but the handicap spaces are SUPPOSED to apply to passengers as well.

... And she still has a valid driver's license.

Here is a picture of an actual pregnant woman parking spot in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is also good for women with babys up to 6 months old.

Parking

I am not a woman so you would NOT see me parking there. I don't think you would get a ticket if you parked there but you would probably get dirty looks.
I think this a nice courtesy for the women.
