So the demo for RE 6 has been up on XBL and PSN for the past couple of days.

I got around to downloading it last night, and played a Leon's campaign. Let me just say I'm a long-time survival horror game fan, and have been with the RE series since literally before the first game was even released stateside. I thought RE 5 was a tremendous let down.

Leon's campaign wasn't bad. I haven't tried the other two yet, and by the sounds of them, I'm not terribly excited to. They just look...stupid. What else can you call it? Chris's game looks like a total joke.

Anybody played it yet? Thoughts? I'm not expecting much, honestly, and this may very well be the first RE main canon game I don't buy on release day.

i tried it out. graphics don't impress and i'm not a fan of having a 2nd character follow you around. game didn't feel scary either. i was a fan of RE 1-4. passed on 5, will pass on this.

i havent turned on a 360 in like 2-3 months and don't even have it hooked up yet at my new house

i am interested in this game though from the initial videos shown of it.

i agree though the series has turned into a "non resident evil" type of feel. it started with RE4 and has progressively gotten further and further away.

re1 and re2 were amazing. i also loved the code veronica one on dreamcast. to this day i still remember watching the FMV intro to RE1 and it setting a freaky tone, and then the fucking dogs jumping through the window in the mansion when you go right at the entrance of the mansion...

god damn that game had an awesome atmosphere.

I was a huge fan of the series, but 5 let me down so much that I haven’t paid any attention to this one. I may pick it up down the road, but it won’t be for new game price.

This yes! I want this kind of game back. Unless I missed something it seems to have gone extremely action oriented in the last few versions. Not interested.

They've said they want to bring in the CoD crowd. I definitely don't mind them changing up the game play as I really enjoyed Resident Evil 4 but didn't like 5.

I've played Leon/Chris side twice and the first thing I noticed was that I have a partner I don't mind it but I prefer to go through it alone. -

Then I looked at the graphics, the environments that you visit and the lighting effects like fire/flashlight/moonlight, looked really good, especially on my 60inch plasma TV. So that's a +

The cinematics and cut scenes are nothing short from fan-f***intastic. +

The voice acting is solid, and the sound effect department did a wonderful job. +

Zombie bodies still disappear after I kill them and I still need a key to open a door or a locked cabinet at this day and age . -

Overall it looks like a solid game, I think capcom is trying to blend action and survival horror, which I think don't mix very well but hopefully they will find a right formula.

And as mentioned above it seems like they are trying to get some of that call of duty market.

As a resident evil fan, I will be getting this game on launch to support them, just like I'll be getting Rome 2 when its released.

I also asked a buddy of mine who's also a huge RE and silent hill fan, why Resident evil no longer being made like the original and he sent me this.

Also, for RE fans to get into the RE mood, you can watch Animated movies like

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't realize there was a demo available. I'll download and try it tonight.

Too bad. The masses want a easy button mashing Call of Duty fest. You/we lose.

Actually, it's probably not what people want but it's what the devs think people can play. Everyone is afraid to make a game with a learning curve and have the difficulty set up a bit. They just think everyone who is playing games today is stupid and won't figure it out and sales will suffer.

It's why pay to win is being pushed so much. They think people are too dumb for a real experience.

Played the demo on PS3. I thought it was sufficiently interesting/entertaining.

But man, just when you thought Resident Evil - originally a horror series - couldn't get anymore action oriented after RE5, again, they kicked up the "action" even more. In the demo I got a little too comfortable mashing the melee button and performing martial arts on zombies, rather than shooting and using precision.

I'll still buy it though. Even though Resident Evil is a different kind of game nowadays, it's still pretty fun on it's own merits. I quite enjoyed RE4 and RE5, so I'll probably enjoy this one as well. I'm planning on getting the PC version because I don't like console gaming much. Graphics are lower-res and I have to put on my glasses to see the TV screen across the room.

My only worry is the setting. One of the things I enjoyed about RE4 and RE5 was their environments; a mysterious Spanish farm town, and an African village and savannah... and now in RE6 we have, uhh, urban America?

I guess I'm in the minority and think it's fun. I've played almost every RE except 5 which I hated from the demo. I quite like the controls and how much more of a free feeling 6 gives you and you don't have to baby sit your partner. Even 4's controls were still very clunky. It's the obviously action and I won't buy it any time soon, I'll wait for the bargain bin. I guess when you've played so many RE games with the crappy same controls, this is a revelation. It sucks though that it's not horror any more though.

Not sure they're wrong in thinking that's what everyone wants to play. I remember seeing somewhere that Dead Space 2 only sold something like a million units and call of duty does that in the opening weekend. It's a shame really, I love Survival Horror games and would love to see the genre go back to its glory days of awesome titles.

I did. And if Resident Evil was still the unique survival horror game it once was, I'd be OK with it going back to Raccoon City (or a location sort of like it). But with the current state of things it's slightly worrying. Rather than being a unique horror game in a familiar environment, it's now a familiar third-person-shooter in a familiar environment... which means nothing new is being brought to the table.

Don't get me wrong, I thought the demo was pretty fun, and like I said I'll probably buy it sometime down the road. I just hope it has enough interesting ideas to keep me engaged through the whole game.

It is 'OK'. No RE since 3 has really been very good. RE2 has always been the best IMHO, and RE4 ruined the franchise mostly for me by turning it into a clunky FPS-hybrid.

I've played every RE game except I think 3. LOVED the original RE, and really liked RE2, but after RE2, I lost interest...until RE5, and I LOVED IT! It was a different game than the original, but the co-op aspect brought so much to the game. I then went back and played RE4, LOVED it too! I would love RE to bring back more of the survival horror aspect like in "Lost in Nightmares," but I also loved "Desperate Escape." Two different types of environments, but both great in their own way.

I'm REALLY excited about RE6 and have had it on pre-order for awhile now. Can't wait to play the full game.

Remember when Ninja Gaiden was released on the Xbox? What did Itagaki and Team Ninja do? They made Ninja Gaiden Black and had to tone down the difficulty because people were doing the QQ because they couldn't figure out how to dodge.

I thought it was really boring. It was damn easy. Ammo dropped everywhere. But of course, you didn't need to use ammo because I just ended up using Melee against everything, and it was very easy.
