I have an IBM x31 laptop. I got a new hard drive for it. I created three partions: one for xp, one for linux, and one for both OSs to share using partition magic on another pc. Next I installed xp from my IBM disks. Upon boot I checked the hard drive and my partions were gone! During the install the partiotions were wiped out. So now I want to resize the first partion and create the two others. I tried pulling the hard drive out and sticking it back in my other pc using partition magic but the partion is labeled as "BAD" by partition magic. I have a 60G drive and I want it to look like
15366MB - XP
15366MB - LINUX and SWAP
26497MB - SHARE
I have acess to diskpart.exe via bartPE, but because this drive will contain my MBR I am not sure what to set the offset to when I create a partition. Also, I am not sure if I should be creating the second drive first becuase the first drive is already there or the first drive first. I am open to suggestions or alternatives. One last thing I have not installed linux yet, but when I do it will be debian 3.0. Are there any tools that I can use when I begin installing linux?
Happy holidays and thanks in advance!
