i was interested in a 1.1ghz athlon in the FS/T forums on Anandtech. He wanted $70 shipped. I contacted him over AIM and offered $65. He agreed. So today i go out and bought a Money Order (he wanted MO). I contact him and he says "I'm sorry but somebody else who I was waiting on for a reply from, before you contacted me, responded and is purchasing for $70 " He never mentioned anything bout it the Athlon was *pending*. What do i do now with this Money Order for $65.

That guy deserves at least a neutral heatware eval IMO. You don't agree to a sale unless you freakin AGREE to the sale, plus the cost to you of purchasing the MO and going to the PO.

You shouldn't have any trouble cashing it at the PO.

thats messed up if he already agreed to sell it to u, then later backs out becuz of a higher bidder. FS/FT rules say specifically that auction style posts are not allow... which i would guess mean auction style transactions are not welcomed. the problem now is that he agreed with u over AIM, and unless u kept a log of ur conversation, u don't have much evidence against him. i would try to urge him to do whats right. if he doesn't...he's a scumbag...and thats all there is to it.

You can just cash it in? Show them the receipt and tell them that he does not need the MO anymore.....

how soon do u need a chip? u could just hang around the FS/FT threads and i am sure another deal will come along. or try posting a WTB with ur target cpu and general $ range. i see ppl do that all the time (dunno how well it works tho).
