I used to, then I radically changed my diet, stopped eating junk and what do you know, it went away. I'm too drunk to go into detail but trust me, just stopping eating so much crap food and you'll notice a difference.

Some people have triggers, some dont. It can be a variety of things. If I have a LOT of caffeine mine gets unbearable. Unfortuntately I haven't had any caffeine.

Edit - Also, I don't really eat junk food Causes all sorts of other problems.

Supposedly, putting a bar of soap on the bed with you will stop RLS.

CONCLUSION: Hyperphosphatemia, anxiety, and a great degree of emotion-oriented coping with stress were independently related to the presence of RLS in uremic patients on HD therapy. The pathogenesis of RLS seems to involve more than one mechanism, which leads to restless legs as the final common pathway. These findings may provide new clues to the pathogenesis of RLS.

I have found all of my patients that have RLS to be nutjobs.

But the TV told them to ask their doctor.

I know many people who swear by this method. A bar of Ivory soap at the foot of the bed (underneath the covers), replace with a new one every 3-6 months.

Sounds wacky, but worth a try considing the next-to-nothing cost.

It's another made up diagnosis to get the nutcases out of the exam rooms & ER's.... Like fibromyalgia.

"Well Mr/Mrs Nutjob, I can't find anything wrong with you, it must be fibromyalgia or RLS."

I have to stretch when my legs act up. Usually it gets really bad on days when I'm fairly inactive, and stretching before bed helps a little bit (especially calf stretches for me). Exercise is the big help, but stretching works well enough to let me fall asleep.

I've had "crazy-legs" for many years. IIRC, it started after running older conventional cranes and draglines that had very stiff clutch and brake controls. (not like clutch and brakes in your car) They required a LOT of leg strength and were used constantly for the 10+ hour shifts. I'd get home at night and the legs would start quivering and twitching. Nowadays, even though I don't run cranes anymore, occasionally, if I'm kicked back in my ambitious-boy recliner watching the idiot-box, they'll start shaking and quivering...I have to get up and stretch and work the muscles to stop the spasming.

I was amazed when they came out with a medication and a name for this...after having it for more than 20 years...but I DO NOT take the dammed pills.

I would have a hard time changing my junk food diet, however, I have had great success using your alternative!

I always thought RLS was more the feeling/tingling that you can't sit or lay still and that you have to move your legs or the tingling feeling gets worse and not your legs twitching or spasming.

I have the crazy-legs, but it doesn't bother me at all. It only flares up when I'm doing homework, and sometimes I don't notice since I'm concentrating on the homework so much.
