This is waht it will look like? Seems a little sparse. maybe you should add a little more detail on what you did at each of those jobs. You should show us a PDF or doc to see how it would look like on paper. Resume layouts can make it seem organized/cluttered/busy etc etc. And easy w/ the ***s , no one is out to steal your identity by figuring out where you use to work

The objective isn't particularly attractive since you're just saying how you're going to benefit yourself and not the company.

Thanks for all the advice so far, Im working on adding more to objective and adding a task experience section right now.

Also my job at eh pharmacy I started as a clerk then they made me their onsite IT guy for the office part. Can I just sat IT support or should I put my clerical duties on there too?

put 3 things
*IT
*IT
*clerical assistance

The clerical portion proves you can deal with people.

You say IT Tech and PC Support but for what? Be specific on your job functions.

I usually add more to objective depending on what company I am sending it too.

put your duties/achievements under each job listing, not in their own section. and when you do, try not to repeat yourself with the duties like this:

Job3 - year - year
*IT support

Job2 - year - year
*IT help

Job1 - year - year
*PC support

put some thought into what you did that could be seen as unique during that time at that job.

On the contrary, I've rarely seen people put their age on their resume. I've seen them on cover letters, but it really *shouldn't* (i.e. discrimination) be any of the employer's business unless your applying to be a model or hooker. Then again, in the real world, they'll do it anyways or spite you for not making it easier for them to filter out the oldies/young ones.

I have never seen one with age included. It's also illegal for them to ask. I've had 2 professionally done and neither asked my age.

OP, try and get some help and advice from ppl you know in the job area - even ask your parents to let you see theirs - it can be very difficult to produce a decent piece without having anything to compare it to

What are you talking about? Age does not go on a resume. Where would you even put it?

I've never been fond of putting an objective line on a resume at all. Whenever you are going for an interview, you objective is clear: you want a job. If you have other more important stuff to put in there, I'd strongly recommend leaving it out as it doesn't strengthen or differentiate a resume.

Your objective statement is a grammatical nightmare; most striking is the redundant "my" before the word "both".

Your objective statement doesn't say anything specific about what you want (what kind of position you want). I mean, that objective statement could get you a job at Best Buy. Is that what you're looking for?? Do you want a job in IT? If so, say that.

Under each of your work experiences, you need to tell them what it is that you were doing at that job or what you accomplished.

Your skills are very generally stated. Be more specific about real abilities that may set you apart from your peers. Have you logged hundreds of hours on Hitachi 4000 and 8000 series scanning electron microscopes? Do you have extensive experience on FEI focus ion beam tools? Can you prepare tunneling electon microscope samples? Tell them what you might be able to do for them.

Go to college or technical school or something.

Good luck!

I agree with Rumpltzer.

I had a course in college that focused a good portion on résumés, and the professor, a résumé consultant, told us to be quantifiable on every item in a résumé.

He told us to not have objectives because the objective is always that you want the job...

He also said that you should have measurable items and be ready to discuss specific examples for every bullet on your résumé.

If you want to include an objective, spend more time writing down what you wan from a job, rather than just a generic response. Also, I would suggest going in to detail about your duties and responsibilities during your work experience.

I'd also suggest to flesh it out a bit - bullet points can't give the level of detail about you as a person that would make your resume convey who you are as a person and why someone should employ you. You also need to mention your age (and probably take your phone number off the web!)

Also its 'manner'

I agree with the objective piece. Obviously, anyone's objective is to land a job. Try using a profile where you can discuss your strengths and what you want to get out of your new (hopeful) position.

If you've never seen a resume without someone's age on it, then you've never seen a professional resume. You do not put your age or birthdate on a resume in the US. Not if you're applying to someplace above Fry Cook at McDonald's anyway.

I was going to reply, but I don't know what the current state of your resume is after the changes. And I just realized this thread was brought back from the grave. Nevermind.

To elaborate on this and what an earlier post was...

It is illegal in the U.S. for an employer to ask your age. Thus, you do not, and should not, put your age/birthdate on a résumé.

EDIT: gabeon beat me to it

the whole point of the objective is to target the type of position that you're looking for. but I usually tweak my resume for that and/or write a cover letter.

Did you do any major projects at the technical school that would impress the employer? Like some kind of capstone project. You need to add some meet to your work experience and describe some of the things you did at those positions. Nothing irrelevant...strictly technical stuff.
