For $49 and games ranging from $10-$30...the Dreamcast rocks. This is how gaming should be. Paying $299+ for PS2, Xbox, Gamecube and then paying $50+ per game really sucks. It's just too bad the supply of new games for the DC will soon be non-existent...

It's sad to see Sega exit the hardware arena ( I still have my Genesis! Just can't get rid of it for nostalgic reasons )...I sure wish they would change their minds and stick around, but at least they'll still be developing games.

Babbages had some the last time I was there. They were HUGE (one even had an onboard throttle) and cost $20-$30. Mighty tempted, but I wouldn't have any room to store something like that.

Yeah.. But what happens after the holidays when Sega blows out the remaining DC's? Does Sega plan on producing more copies of these games? What happens when all of the $10 games get blown out? Will we then see these games for $50 used on Fleabay? What happens with the controllers? Sega is out of the hardware business. Does that mean extra controllers too?

I'm only asking because I bought one at Toys R Us over the weekend for $69.99 with the 3 games and one controller. The receipt says that if I open it, the DC is basically mine, so I'm keeping it sealed as long as I can to see what's going to shake down here.

The way I see it is that if Sega is just dumping the remaining stock here of everything DC, there are going to be a lot more people out there with consoles after xmas than there were 3 months ago and if the laws of supply and demand kick in here, there will be a premium on stuff that I don't have.

Just to let you know.. Some of those BB deals were for the weekend I believe. Even if they weren't for the weekend only, the DC games at my BB are pretty much picked clean.

I think the target keyboards went back to reclaimation... they had over 20 in each of 2 targets in my area for WEEKS at the low price... and then BAM! Gone-zo. I waited a bit too long and the electronics guy said they packed them up and sent them back finally... Only a day or two before I was looking again.

I remember Sonic Adventure 2 was on the shelves for like a week and then they were all gone from every store around here.....and NONE restocked it. Also I can't find Soul Calibur anywhere.....but I did get Jet Grind Radio for 7.99 at BB.

Same here. I saw a bunch at EB for $14, but not the Performance one. That's the one I want as well. Connect both DC and PC to one monitor... bliss... 8)

Salvador always has a stack of questions! Don't worry so much, just play.

Don't worry about demand and supply and soaring prices. Look at eBay. At any given time there are about 5000 Dreamcast related auctions. There is a sizable amount of people who are dumping their DCs to buy XBOXs and GameCubes. While the new $49 console price will drive game and accessories sales, the release of the XBOX and GC is driving the sale of used equipment. My local GameStop in a strip mall has about 75 different used Dreamcast titles. Same thing in the mall stores. At my local BB this weekend, they were cleaned out of DC consoles, but had a decent amount of controllers, keyboards, VMUs, jump packs and even fishing rods left.

There is more than enough to go around. A Dreamcast is not like a limited production car. As time goes on, the Dreamcast will become less and less appealing as technology improves. This is true with any mass-market technology product. Perhaps a few accesories will become collector's items (e.g. those maracas for samba de amigo), but nothing mainstream will.

I still can't believe you haven't opened it up yet. Play, play, play!!!

Bleemcast is a CD that emulates a PS1 and lets you play a specific PS1 game with superenhanced graphics. (Strange how DC can do it, but PS2 can't, eh?)

Bojax BleemCast = Software, PS 1 Emulator for DreamCast.

Only 3 CDs were ever released (bleem went bust last week). CDs were Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3 and Metal Gear Solid. (GT2 is excellent, just bought Tekken 3 & MGS but haven't played them yet). NOTE: You still needed to buy the original PS1 game, AS WELL as the Bleem CD.

CtlAltl33t I picked up a VGA box from Lik-Sang Online. Hong Kong company, but shipping wasn't too bad.

Emulators for the DC - not just MAME, there are others - C64, 2600, Coleco. I've yet to try any though.

Just got back from Best Buy (in Pinole, CA)... the were just unloading a new shipment of stuff from their warehouses...

the VMU's seem to be 9.99 again now... keyboards 19.99...

they have a bunch of games at 9.99, the ones in the flyers + Virtua Tennis, Sega Smashpack (12 Games from the Genesis (?) era, like Sonic, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, Virtua Cop 2, etc.) and others... ooga booga or something?

As for shooter games... I got House of the Dead 2 + MadCatz light guns off of ebay, and i'm thinking Virtua Cop 2 should work with the light guns too. Forgot the other games...

edit: I just found 'Silent Scope', originally an awesome sniper-based arcade game. looks awesome, but i can't find it at a good price, cheaper than $30 besides at half.com...

Intrigued by Gran Turismo 2... where do i get the Bleem CD? I just played GT3 @ BB.... very nice.

I'm located in Berkeley, just went there this morning, they had two shopping carts of new stuff that they were putting up. They said when they opened they only had 2 games... now they have a ton.
