I just went to buy some stuff from Buy.com and couldn't believe the shipping charges. Holy! It was something like $20 for about $50 worth of stuff that couldn't have weighed more than 5 lbs. Who cares if their prices are good, with these shipping prices, it's just not worth it.

What happened to the good old days when you could get all kinds of coupons and get free shipping every Friday without any restrictions? <sigh>

Some of the titles are either too expensive still, back ordered or no longer available. I don't know if I want to get into this scramble for every last bit of Dreamcast gear. I just don't know if it's worth the time and frustration.

Yes, the Buy.com shipping prices do seem rather high, espically when you start ordering more than 1 item, the shipping goes up dramatically.

Dude, the days of the amazing crazy things that websites would do to make you shop online are gone... I wish for them back again too. *crazy nogastalgia goin on*

As long as were wishing, I wish I could have bought up some domain names back in the day, when the internet was young. If i had bought a simple, useful domain name, I could be retired and living in bermuda right now.
<sigh sigh sigh>

ah well, this dreamcast is worth it

Sal: There is a free shipping offer if you buy more than $99 worth of stuff from buy.com. Not much consolation, tho, I know.
jamesave: Thanks for the link. That might be a good deal for some of the higher prices titles. Wonder if this is a precursor to CUSA officially dropping the prices, tho.
dc: Not many games use the light gun, although some people swear a gun is the ONLY way to play House of the Dead 2, even with some reported calibration problems.

<< If only the Dreamcast was priced this way from the start...it would be flying off the shelves and still be in production. Am I wrong? >>

More than anything else, FUD killed the DC, not pricing. That and Sega's complete lack of marketing.
Say what you want about the Xbox, M$ as a company sure knows how to introduce products...woo the press, and marketing marketing MARKETING!

ebgames.com has the prices of their dreamcast games way above what was listed in the first post of this thread... whats the deal, did they go up in price ? or am I missing something ?

I want to find these games cheap: Soul Caliber, Outrigger, AF Delta (is there a better combat sim? prefer arcade style with ground targets, etc instead of hard core simulation).

Yea and Sega would be out of business for taking a huge $$$ loss on each system. They had to be losing money even at $199, so do you really think they would have been successful at $49? If you lose so much on every sale, you can't make up for it in volume! Sure, they make their money on software licensing, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome such a huge loss on the hardware @ $49.

Sega's initial $199 pricing was fair. N64 was initially $199...PS1 was $249?

note--shenmue II was originally going to be for dreamcast, but i've heard the plan has been trashed and they're now developing it for....xbox. ugh!

Yes, Sega announced this about a month ago. Very tragic. However, it was already released for the Japanese and European markets and you can get these on eBay. The Japanese version will play in US Dreamcasts, but you might understand a thing since it's in Japanese. The European version is in English, but since the Euros use PAL (and not NTSC) you need to convert it somehow to play on a US device.

It's on X-Box now exclusively. Can't say M$ isn't smart...

Or let someone else do the work for you. Thanks, Echelon!

<< I just bought Bleemcast for gt2 @ ebgames for $5.99. I can't wait to check it out.

Are there any games that are close to GT2 for dreamcast? Good number of cars, tracks, options, customizing(?).. good controll..

wow, I've only had the Dreamcast since Sunday and I've already bought a lot of stuff of it.

Sega Rally 2 isn't bad, but I don't like how the races are timed (ie, you can be in first place, but if you run out of time the game is over ). Probably the best racing game for the DC is Test Drive V-Rally. Graphics rival the X-box/PS2 and the gameplay is semi-relistic (cars will flip over if you bank too hard, etc). I love the AWD on the Subaru WRC (and not just because I own a WRX myself ).

I agree with Fritzo. Test Drive V-Rally is not only the best rally racing game I've played, it's one of the best racers ever made. Too bad it didn't get much press.

Playstation was $299 when it came out. I remember buying mine from Sears with the 10% promotion for $270.

I'm a DC newbie. Can multiple Madcatz MC2 wheel's be hooked up simultaneously so players can race each other at the same time?
Thanks.

Good question (I'm a DCN too)!
I've got two wheels (bought one with a DC for my dad for Christmas) and I'll try to hook them up tonight and see.
That is, unless some non-newbie already knows the answer!
