<< I bought a Gameshark Massive memory card, 16x and includes a cable to up/download to a pc, $20 at an EB. >>

This is the only memory card I've ever had problems with (I own several 200 and 800 block cards). While playing games, I'd often get an error that would say: Memory Card Not Found (or something like that, I returned the memory card shortly after I bought it in December). Another gripe I had with it is that the software for transfering your save games to your pc is only compatible with Win95-Me. No 2000 or XP compatibility.

It sounds like a good deal for the money, but that error would screw up games and I couldn't save. After reading the forums at gameshark's website, it seemed like that was a common problem and most people were unhappy with them, so I'd advise staying away from it or returning it if you can.

Did you try running the program with XP's comaptibility mode? I see a lot of people griping that software doesn't work with XP when I get it to work fine using Win98 compatibility mode. MS really did their homework with XP

xcoldricex: Having fun with the gun I see.

Tell me you're using the Dreamblaster!

I had the same issue, and was pulling my hair out. Finally caved in and bought the Interact gun at a local store, and it works wonderfully with my VGA box!! And Man, is it nice on the monitor!

Hope that helps.

My Dreamblaster works fine on the TV though, so I know it's not the gun that's faulty. Simply doesn't work with the VGA connector.

yep and it still wouldn't work. It would just lock up the computer or in some cases, it would auto-reboot (this is before I knew how to turn the auto-reboot off so I could see what it said on the BSOD). If anyone is really interested, dig through the forums over at gameshark.com; the creators say it won't work with 2k or XP at all.

The only other program I tried with comp. mode did work however

Oddice, what problems did you have with it? I just bought the same card this weekend, and would hate to have to take it back. I initially had problems with it detecting the different memory banks, but when I went and reformatted each bank, I no longer got the "no memory found error." Did you try formatting each bank, then have it mess up later on? Let me know more. On a side note, you may want to try and hook up the private message option on your profile, this is much better suited for there.

Otherwise, bump!

i actually have the interact light gun, i just don't have an official dc vga box (i shouldn't have sold the two i had... damn.) instead i'm using a viewsonic vga box... so maybe that's the problem. or the gun maybe faulty. i'll have to try it on a tv.

I bought my dreamcast during the post thanksgiving sale at Best buy, I've had only one controller which came with the console now. I want to buy one more controller and a big vmu. Regarding the controller, should I get the one made by dreamcast again or get something else? Also the vmu, should I get the one made by dreamcast as well or ones made by third party? I've heard that many people have problems with these third party vmu, so which one should I get? thanks. I think 4x is big enough, right?

I got a Mad Catz controller and I like it a lot more than the official Sega one. It is more more comfy.

I thought that the best controller was the actual Dreamcast controller? Is the madcatz the best? How about the Nyko Dreammaster, InterAct AstroPad or any of the other third party controllers?

Gimme feedback...

Another vote here for the MadCatz DreamPad. Found mine at Walmart clearance section for ~$9. Stuff's getting harder and harder to find.

<<I was surfing through my links of stores that sell console stuff and came across some stuff at vdo-specialties.com>>

Anyone order from this place? I'm interested in that Pelican 4x True Memory for $12.59...but I'm not so sure about that site...

I picked up one of those 8x cards, I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I was able to get the different banks to work, but my data when loading was always corrupted. Needless to say, I am taking it back to EB.

Otherwise, bump!

Well.. Now you guys tell me about the Madcatz dreampad. I was thinking all along that it was the first party Sega controller or bust.

Sal....Definitely ditch MLB2k1. Reviews are terrible, and you have 2k2. Choose one of NBA and NFL and ditch the other 1. You might as well keep the 2k2's, and get rid of the 1's. Also can Tomb Raider - terrible game. Get some of that money back for some bigger and better peripherals!

I bought a 16M/3200 block card from Lik-Sang in HK and haven't had any problems with it yet. I haven't tried the cable yet, so I don't know if it'll work in 2K or not. It was about $40 shipped. They've also got a bunch of stuff for the DC I haven't seen many other places, including transparent replacement cases (and just lids) - make your DC look like an iMac! And the Japanese version of the infamous broadband adapter is $119.

I've also found the generic Samba de Amigo maracas for $9.90 at EMS.

WOW, that's an amazing price for maracas, even generic ones. Site seems kinda shady though, can't find an online order form anywhere, looks like you have to email to place an order? For only 9 bucks, though I'd risk it. Can't find shipping costs either. Think it's a typo?

The AstroPad is ok. I had 2, but returned one when I found another Mad Catz controller used at Funcoland. The AstroPad is really too big. It also doesn't feel as high quality as the Mad Catz, or the Sega for that matter.

Well.. I need to look for a Sega 4x memory card and a Madcatz controller then.

I forgot two games on my list. I also have Virtua Tennis and Tennis 2K2 also. I've played Tennis 2k2, but haven't opened up Virtua Tennis yet. Would there be any reason to keep Virtua Tennis if I have Tennis 2k2?

BTW.. On the Sports 2k games. If I have all the 2K2's, is there any reason to keep the 2k1's? Is there something remotely better on any of the 2k1 games that they screwed up or changed for the 2k2 games? I'd like to know because the 2k1's aren't going for that much money and it might be worth just keeping them if there is something special about them.

Thanks again,

Sal
