Same specs as the 2GB 6950 apart from 1GB of memory of course. If this card is priced around $250-275 it's going to be the best performance in that price bracket. It seems AMD is prepping to rain on the 560's parade much the way NV's price drop did on the 6870/6850 launch.

No word yet on the 1GB 6970s or any pics unfortunately :\

Is that Crossfire connector standard across all AMD cards, or does it only link between 2 6950s?

I think that shows a dual CF link there, unless my eyes are bad. So it should do tri and quad crossfire.

69xx can run 4 monitors without involving external splitters and such. The 5th is just so you have options on which connections to use.

Just as the 58xx had 4 connectors, but was handling 3 monitors.

Also, this card looks a little shorter than the reference 69XX. Can't tell for sure though. Also can't tell if that's a BIOS switch just next to the X-fire. Hope to see more about this soon. Price wars might be a-comin'.

This card is going to be a great addition to competition in the market space, but it's not going to be $50 cheaper than the 2 gig models. That would be both an out-of-this-world deal and suicide pricing vs. the 2 gig model.

Regardless, the high end pricing is going to take some serious punishment here in a few weeks!

Looks like it might end up being a silent card. The 4870 512mb was about $30 less than the 1GB version, so thats what I see happening.

The reviewer at TH hinted in todays feature article or in comments ? Can't remember that he was going to be busy benching a new video card he just recieved. I'd imagine its this or the gtx 560 ? Something besides playoff football, 32nm and Fringe to keep cold winter nights interesting

I didn't know that the 6900 series could use 5 monitors. All of them can?

Is that just for productivity?

They can all run up to 6 monitors. In fact, so can the 6800 series cards.

From AT review of 6850 / 6870:
For Barts AMD is keeping parity with Cypress’s display controller, giving Barts the ability to drive up to 6 monitors. Unlike Cypress however, the existence of MST hubs mean that AMD doesn’t need to dedicate all the space on a card’s bracket to mini-DP outputs, instead AMD is using 2 mini-DP ports to drive 6 monitors in a 3+3 configuration. This in turn means the Eyefinity6 line as we know it is rendered redundant, as AMD & partners no longer need to produce separate E6 cards now that every Barts card can drive 6 DP monitors. Thus as far as AMD’s Eyefinity initiative is concerned it just became a lot more practical to do a 6 monitor Eyefinity setup on a single card, performance notwithstanding.

Of course they pulled the same feature forward into the 69xx cards.

Up to 6 monitors eyefinity. To use however you want to use them, productivity or gaming or both.

As for how do you get 6 from only 5 ports? Displayport 1.2 has enough bandwidth for 2x 2560x1600 displays or 4 "1080p" displays and can be daisy chained or connected with a hub

Personally I think every single card released AFTER gtx480/470/465 has been a non-issue when it comes to noise.

Well I never said any of the other cards were noisy, They are fine, I can deal with them. But I wouldn't mind a card that I wouldn't be able to hear over my case fans. I can hear my 5770 on a hot day, especially after I replaced the stock cooler on my CPU.

Its a plus point, not a huge 1, but still a plus point.

CM690 with 3x 120mm 800rpm case fans.

I don't know what speed my 120mm case fans are at, but it's an Antec 900. I'm guessing yours are at a lower speed and are quieter than mine because my case fans at the lowest settings are still louder than all my past and present GPUs when under load unless I manually set the fan speed. I envy you for your case being that quiet!

Well they spin so slow I can see the individual fan blades when I have the side cover off. Also, my last CPU was a 3.4ghz Pentium 4 so I wanted something much quieter than that for my next PC.
