SUOrangeman,

Yes, you can clearly tell that it is not a flip-chip. All the coppermine core Intel flip-chip CPUs have part number starting BX80526 and the old core starting BX80524 which the Celeron 533 you got from buy.com has. Intel is still shipping it or at least was shipping it until very recently. My friend just got the chip which was packed not too long ago in order to install it on his old LX board. The chip is useful only if you do not have a board which do not support Coppermine chips. In fact, I see some demands for the chip in the future as the last and fastest Celeron chip which is supported on the oldest LX and EX boards.

Trust me Intel never made retail boxed Celeron 533A, and the one you got is the normal PPGA. If you are expecting 800+Mhz out of the chip, cancel the order because you will be only getting 600Mhz at most.

Does any one knows what is the FSB selection, on the mentioned above Tekram.

I looked at the Tekram site, no info.

To be more specific does this board has any setting between 83 to 100MHz.

Just to let you guys know. I ordered Cel633 from buy.com on Tues and got it today. Got so excited......pop it off the box....put stock heatsink on and snap to the Iwill slotketII convertor. Then boot to window at default, everything works fine. Then I start to get greedy and bumped fsb up from 66..75..83...and then 100. Woohoo....it posted and booted to window smoothly.
temp: 37c idle
45-48c after running 3DMark2000 bench.
SL3W9 week 32.....malay

Overall, not a bad deal at all for $91 shipped (taxed).

Hi, I have an ABIT BH6 motherboard. I don't know the version of the motherboard. But I think it is not version 1.1 . I think it is an old version. Is my motherboard compactible with Celeron 633? If my motherboard is not compactible with Celeron 633, can somebody tell me what motherboard is compactible? I need a cheap motherboard like below $100. I am kinda new with this kind of stuff. Please help me. Thank you. Bye. ^_^

I have the first revision BX6 which is older than your BH6, and I could run CII 566 without any problem other than the BIOS did not post the actual speed. You should be able to run this 633.

cremefilled,

Thanks for the tip on the compgeeks slotket. About $15 shipped sounds reasonable to me...

Well, I jumped on this deal from Buy and cancelled my long lost 566 order. But checking the the Abit website I noticed that the latest BIOS update for the BX6R2.0 shows support only for up to Cel 600. Is there a 9.5 multiplier available with on the BX6R2.0? Thanks.

Warehouse? Ummm....as I looked up on the tracking page, the item was originally shipped from Anaheim and then went to San Fernando. So I guess the warehouse is in San Fernando.

If your BH6 is version 1.00, 1.01 or 1.02 then you can run the Celeron II's up to 700MHZ. You must get the latest Bios upgrade (SS Version Bios) from the abit site. (www.abit.com.tw). Be careful to get the correct bios for these earlier versions of the BH6. I have a version 1.01 and am running a Celeron II 566 at 850 MHZ (8.5 x 100 FSB) and am getting wintune numbers a bit above a PIII 700. Good luck.

I cancelled my 533 order, but lost the $20 off coupon, so I haven't re-ordered the 633 ... yet. Lemme check marketPro tomorrow and then twe'll see.

Thanks for the heads-up on the 533 retail issue.

my 633 came today, and it did 950 right out of the box at the default voltage. heh i didnt even boot it up at the default speed to see if it works first. anyway, i ran prime95 for 5 minutes and it seems okay. reboot and bump the fsb to 105mhz(997mhz). it booted but no good. i then have to bump the voltage all the way up to 1.80v to run reliably. it has been running prime95 for about an hour now and doing everything else. it seems to be stable, but will keep running prime95 for a couple of days to see.

Hey Thai, I had the same problem running at 105 fsb while using 1.75. Haven't tried 1.80 but will do.
What is your temp reading after running Prime?
Mine's got something like 47c w/stock hs....will swap in FOP32 to see any difference.

multiplier doesn't matter to the motherboard. the chips are locked, set your mobo to 2x and it will run at 9.5x but report like 200mghz

siamskunk, during full load, or running prime95 it jumps from 32c to 42c, an average of 36c i would say. (my motherboard doesnt have a thermal resistor under the chip, but it uses the thermal resistor in the cpu chip to report the temperature.) its at 26c at idle. case temp is 30c btw.

i might add that i have a duct system that routes room air blowing through the heatsink.

26c at idle! damn, ducting is that good. I'd have to try and get rid of CAF12 blowing right at the cpu.

oh i'm running win2k too. at idle, win2k is equivalent to win98 w/ cpu cooler. still, i have been trying to tell everyone to try to duct their system. this way, they can eliminate the case fan and the cpu fan. all is left is the fan in the duct blowing cool air from the outside into the case and onto the cpu heatsink. i use a quiet 92mm fan wire to 7v, which make it extremely quiet. heck, my maxtor 72000 rmp hard drive is the most noisy part in my system.

ducting is easy to do too. you can use cardboard paper to type up a duct(square).

Got the 633 from buy.com and runs 950 with stock heatsink 1.65v. Runs at 980 1.75v..turbo enabled. Tried 105 fsb and posted and got into windows at 1.80 but not stable. This is with intel's heatsink and fan. I will try Golden Orb. Great deal!!!

Hooray to all of us happy 633 owners. To all the rest who are reluctant, I would have to say that OC'ing is a coin flipping. You might not get the same result as some did....but chances are pretty good.
Here's report from my cpu:
-100mhz right out of the box stable at 1.65v default
-101-104mhz at 1.65v stable
-105mhz needs voltage upped at 1.80 for stability
-106mhz posted but didn't get to window.
*stability means running fine in 3DMark2000 demo loopping for 1 hr.
*all done with Intel HS/F on BE6-II and 128mb HSDram pc133 (cas2)

Can you guys post any test result, see how far we can push this puppy.
