awesome man.The package looks like standard DFI to me.
Just a couple of questions.
1.Is the cpu socket very close to the edge of the board?
2.Is the NDA over?
3.What is the likely MSRP?
Sorry if i'm asking too many questions but i can't help it.

I so hope this arrives soon and that the price gouging isn't too bad.

The NDA will be lifted next week. MSRP is around $230 and expect prices to be higher at retail until stock exceeds demand.

nice looking board... wish they'd release their 680i already!!!

it's too bad that ati/amd had a merger... i wonder how good the support will be for this board

Gary, first of all. SWEET!

Secondly, could you please show a pic of the underside of the board? Thanks.

Is this board going to be cheaper than the striker? I'm getting the board, but i'm not fond of paying stupid amounts for something like this.

Zomomgomgmg! Awesome!

Glad to see they did infact use the copper colouring on the aluminium heatsinks, looks much better IMO and will look great with the copper HS/F I'm getting. And yeah, what's "more to come" .. ?

Ultra-D bios finally comes to Intel S775. Oh can't wait until the 680 board is out.

Yeah, looks like a pretty typical DFI mobo, which isnt a bad thing, but I'm really curious about the BIOS. Can this baby hit 500fsb? ::fingers crossed::

Edit: ASUS take notice. MSRP of $230!!

So DFI is finally on the ball? Sweet! Been waiting to see if DFI was going to go after C2D with a board that's an OCers dream.

Gary, will AT have a full review ready when the NDA lifts?

1)
cpu socket is so close to the edge of the baord you can forget about using anything other than a smaller heatsink. no way in hell a Sythe or even an XP-90 would fit properly inside of a case unless you had 3 inches of clearance above the board which most dont.
eh an xp-90 would fit but you better be able to yank the board to get it on and off
2)
bottom PCI-E slot is useless. once again, its right on the edge of the board and anything other than a slim stock heatsink wont work.
again putting the much needed air flow to a video card right out the window as the heatsink will be sitting smack dab on the bottom of the case.
3)
NB heatsink, once again too close to the heatsink to allow any of the newer larger good heatsinks to fit properly.
4)
this is bullsh|t and you DFI designers need to wake the fvck up. you put the RAM slots right smack agains the video card.
if the locking brackets dont hit the video card you have to pull the video card half way out just to get your hand in there to unlock the ram.

are designers so blind and dumb that they cant see these things ?
are they so used to testing equipment on a test bench that they dont wake up and realise that "oh god when they put this in a case.. jesus.. its not gunna fit

It's a performance board. The RD600 isn't going to put out much heat. The NBhs is just fine. Add a tiny fan if you need to. It's already supposed to be clocking great without any extreme cooling.

CPU area is really for phase. It's just begging for it or water cooling. Seems most performance air coolers will be a little screwed if you don't have a large case.

Gary, Thanks for all the info so far. When you review this board can you let us know if a Tuniq Tower 120 will fit in a mid tower case? I have a Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA waiting for my new build and I was planning on getting this mobo. Also, will the PCI express x 16 slots only having x8 bandwith affect performance much? If I remember correctly nothing is using that much bandwith right now, but I'm planning on getting a R600 to go with this mobo.
From http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_produc...p?PAGE_TYPE=US&PRODUCT_ID=5155&SITE=US
"Expansion Slots

# 3 PCI Express x16 slots for ATI CrossFire and ATI Physics
2+1 Configuration (2 Graphics + 1 Physics)
- 2 ATI CrossFire graphics cards (each operates at x8 bandwidth).
- 1 ATI Physics graphics card operates at x2 bandwidth.
# 3 PCI slots "

Yeah, if its MSRP @ $230 NE and ZZF will charge $300 off the bat. Thats my prediction. If (read *if*) the RD600 is rock stable and and overclocks to 500fsb stable then it'll be worth it IMO. But it needs to be rock solid stable before I'll make that claim.
