Recently been looking around for a new 22" monitor. Noticed that a lot of places around where I am had the Samsung 226BW at a very nice sales price, only to find out that they are down to the display model at each store and would not be getting more (i.e. discontinued).
Has anyone else noticed the new 22" model 2253BW from Samsung popping up at various online sites? So far Circuit City, Newegg and Best Buy Business has them in on-line stock but none of the local B&M stores as of yet. Am kinda surprised has little search information exists for this model other than some product release snipits.
Monitors are one of the few things I would rather buy from a B&M store rather than mail order (even if a bit more expensive) so just in case of a bum monitor/pixels can just swing by for an exchange rather then ship it out and play the waiting game.

well more bad news. Some reason after the monitor completely worms up, its input lag gets worse? I am now getting 50ms average input lag, this is not acceptable... This is what? 3~ frames atleast?

Well, I took the plunge and ordered the Planar from CDW. Unfortunately, the won't be instock till next week. I thought I would have had it in time for the weekend. Argh! Oh well. I'll post back and give my impressions.
Well, I'm very disappointed to hear this. I really thought this one might be a viable option. But I'm getting the increasing feeling that S-PVA for FPS gaming is a no-go in most situations. Options seem to be settle badly for TN, pay up big for IPS, or sit tight with my small but good CRT until OLED comes out.Originally posted by: redlinez33
Well quick update, avoid the 2408WFP, especially if you are a gamer. Not only is the input lag BAD (40-60ms average from multiple different people, including myself) the left side of the screen is brighter than the rest of the screen. This has happened for two of these monitors, so there is some quality control issue going on here

I have a 2470WNX and I do notice the input lag if I pay close attention to it. It doesn't really bother me, and I haven't had any problems playing FPS games with it. Then again, I'm not a hardcore FPS player like many (although I do enjoy them).
I knew there was going to be some input lag when I purchased the display. To me, the excellent PQ more than makes up for it. I thought about going with a TN panel, but I can't stand the poor viewing angles and inaccurate color, personally. I'm pretty sure the 24" IPS panels have some input lag (~2 frames) as well, so just because you're paying more doesn't mean you'll get better FPS performance.
Bottom line, every display type has compromises. You just have to decide which one you can live with.
