Honestly, the 2408 has some issues like poor uniformity (white appears different shade on left/right side of screen). I don't know that you'd be all that happy with that LCD in particular.

And the 245BW would have much less lag for gaming, and it would be fine for browsing the web among the other activities you do.

If you wanted something slightly better than the 245BW, then consider another VA panel like the ViewSonic VX2435wm.

I just replaced my samsung 245B after 12 days. I just could not stand such poor viewing angles, backlight bleeding, wobbly stand and front power button. Colors are washed out. But when magic colour is turned on colors are more vivid but over saturated and the gray scale gets worse.

I replaced it with NEC 20WGX2PRO (s-ips). It`s 4" smaller and 100 eur more expensive but IQ is so much better i can`t believe what i was missing with TN all this years.

I just ordered the BenQ G2400W. It should arrive by Friday.

I will report back after testing it out.

ya wonder how much thats going to cost.

The DoubleSight DS-263N is also a interesting monitor. Looks like it might be like the Planar 26" assuming quality holds up... And for $200 less than the Planar it could be the next high end thing.

Hey new here, and I am still confused about something. I used a CRT for so many years, and Decided to go to LCD and i got hte hP lp2465 and while ghosting is nonexistant.. i wasn't aware of input lag at the time and it kills me. Its horrible. I was going to go back to CRT, but i love the lcd for all other purposes. I figured I would get a smaller good 19LCD for gaming and I noticed I had in my closet ( from an old machine) 2x samsung 940b. I saw on the hardcore gaming section that the 940BF is better but from comparison the rise/fall is 8m on the 940b and 940bf. Only added on the specs for the bf seems the 2ms grey to grey. Do you think theres any real noticable difference? I found a few 940bfs online, but I already have a 940b. I don't know any other suggestions would be cool.

The 940B, ironically, is one of the slowest LCDs in the world (well, at least in the world of current desktop monitors).

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl...splay/19inch-4_23.html

You're free to give it a try anyway, what do you have to lose? Perhaps X-Bit got a bad sample.

P.S. 940B is slow in response time but probably has zero input lag because of no overdrive.

For another 19" gaming LCD I'd look at LG models with 2 ms ratings. The exact LG models might vary per store (they have a lot of model #s). Avoid 5 ms-rated ones, they may have more ghosting.

The 2263PW, wonder how much it will cost.

http://www.behardware.com/html/news/cat22/page1.html

Well not the first ever since Lenovo beat them with the ThinkVision L220X and Eizo beat them with the S2231W. First Samsung 22" S-PVA though, which is good news.

They also had on display 22" monitors with 2048 wide and 1920 wide resolutions.

lol! I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping that it was gonna be just as good or close to the bf. So your saying the BF is definantly way faster with the same low input lag, compared to the B? So I should definantly try and pick up the 940BF or the LG's you said? How is your NEC 20WMGX2 ?

Well why not try your 940B anyway? There's always a chance X-Bit got some slow rev of it, or something.

But the results do indicate the BF is lower in response time, and almost surely in input lag (but this is a guess).

The 20WMGX2 is pretty fast (2 frames of lag). It should feel faster than your LP2465 (3 frames of lag).

But another 19" TN LCD (most of which are under 1 frame of lag) is your best choice. So maybe find one of the LGs in the OP, or similar.

Thanks a lot for the info... I will try the 940b. I should have said that before. In the back of my head I was thinking that I would try but I just typed what I wnated to do besides that.. I'll try the 940.. compare to the HP, and I'll also check for the LG's as well as the 940bf. I saw in the chart, the LG Flatron L1970HR is listed. I'll check for that one first, and then whatever other LG 2ms one's i can find. Thanks again

edit: and the 19": LG Flatron L1960TR as well. I guess the 70HR is newer?

Oh ok...I won't hold you to it, just thought it was a good idea. Some people pass up things like that. I wouldn't be able to resist personally.

70HR has more accurate colors by a little, I believe. I don't know about the diffs between them although I believe X-Bit has reviewed both or similar models. The LG 2 ms models are generally very similar to each other.

I had heard of the uniformity issues on the 2407 and thought that they had fixed that on the 2408. My current Ultrasharp 2007 is my favorite monitor I have ever used so I want something like that. I'll look into the VX2435wm.

The 2408 has worse uniformity issues than the 2407 ever did, AFAIK. See the HardForum thread on it.

Do you happen to know if your 2007 contains an S-PVA or S-IPS panel? The 240x series are always S-PVA panels. In the case your 2007 is an S-IPS, there's a potential for the 240x series to appear lower quality to you.

this is something i posted on hardforum

i got a 275t+ a couple days ago. i didn't see an option for 1:1 but it does have 4:3 which is useful for games that dont support widescreen or that would otherwise stretch it (like warcraft 3). it puts black bars on the side.

it has no bleeding that i can see (and i really hate backlight bleeding). colors are great. 1 dead pixel. the black level is awesome.

so far i've come to realize that gaming on a 27" is too big for me. before this i used a 906bw

i haven't done any objective rt or lag tests..i dont have a crt here to test it against. if you guys have any other questions let me know

anyway so this monitor is too big..so i am going to return it. i'm sitting 3 feet away from the screen and it's tough to see everything playing full-screen games. also my line of vision is about level with just above the middle of the screen..so i have to look up to see the top 1/3 of it.

i'm thinking a 24" would small enough for me. does anyone know where to get vesa-compliant stand will allow the monitor to be lower to the desk?

does the 245BW have a 1:1 mode or aspect ratio mode? i need something like this for playing non-wide games.
if not, what are some other 24" monitors that have this feature? i'm undecided on whether i want to go with TN or otherwise

and 22" LCDs too that have this feature?

What's all this talk about 8-bit LCD panels? I have always known 16.7 million color as 24-bit color. At least in windows:

32-bit (true) = 4B
24-bit (true) = 16.7M
16-bit (high) = 65k

So where does all this 8-bit and 6-bit business come from?

Yeah I am not sure about the BE either. The 940BF seems .. well, its a ghost. The stores I thought had it online.. don't. You did say it was limited though =) .. SO i started to look elsewhere for a good gaming lcd 19" or so, to go along side my hp lp2465... I started to look at the viewsonics.. (i wasn't too interested in the LGs) .. the VX924 & VX1940w. I remember the VX924 being one of the best LCDs for its time, and the VX1940w has some good reviews out there.. but I don't see much info about input lag.. The VX1940W claims 2ms; the VX924 claims 3. I am sorry if I am not doing through searches though, but my logic was, if the 940BF is still on the list (despite its age) .. why didn't the VX924 make it unless it has some major faults?
