The LG L227WT has gotten great ratings for gaming, and it's also good for multimedia: http://prad.de/en/monitore/rev.../review-lg-l227wt.html

Even print matchers may find something they like in the L227WT, although it's a TN panel and it certainly has limitations, especially without calibration.

I can't find it on sale anywhere right now besides the UK but it should come to the US very soon.

well more bad news. Some reason after the monitor completely worms up, its input lag gets worse? I am now getting 50ms average input lag, this is not acceptable... This is what? 3~ frames atleast?

Got my 2nd nec 20wmgx2 replacement, and sure enough this one has 2 dead pixels in the middle of the screen and a loud buzzing noise :-( Now I'm mad. This this will be the 4th time I'm sending one back :-(

Just remembered something that makes me a little bit of a idiot..

I lowered the resolution to 1680x1050 because I hate reading small text....... Well I remember reading this would increase input lag

Thats why input lag increased. lol

Well, after juggling my choices to fit into my budget and my wants/needs I decided I would give the Viewsonic VX2435 a chance. I have been waffling for about a month now because every LCD monitor I looked at has some kind of problem or is too expensive. I do moderate gaming and web design. I was on my way to Fry's to pick up a Samsung 245bw to see if I could deal with a TN Panel after searching for a retail store that carried the Viewsonic and coming up empty. To my surprise on display at Fry's was a VX2435 for $499!!! I was ecstatic until I found out that it was reduced price due to being a floor model and that they were not going to restock because this monitor is being discontinued (no wonder it is not in any stores). Just before I sank back into LCD depression I asked if they could check some other Fry's locations. There was only one Fry's in the LA area that had 2 in stock. One floor model and one open box return. I figured I would take a risk on the open box, worse coming to worse I could return it to Viewsonic for a replacement. Fry's gave me an additional 10% off so it cost me $449. Once I got home and set it up it looks amazing just like the floor models did. I am so glad I chose a VA panel instead of a TN even if the input lag is worse.

One quick question. Does anyone have the color profile for this monitor or recommended adjustments? I realize that every monitor is a little different but I don't have any calibration equipment and I would like to at least get closer to calibrated than I am at default.

Thanks for the helpful resource xtknight!

Thanks xt. They pretty much sum it up, pretty much:

" Prices, the ThinkVision L220x relief for the world's first 22 WUXGA display, and many super functional, natural width than the regular 22 to some of you. However, by virtue of superior display quality is extremely powerful and functional integration, ThinkVision L220x bound to become a very high-end product market weight. "

And then there's this little caveat from the "Harsh test of the viewing angle test":
" Elevation watch under the brightness of the screen has decreased significantly, there is no color in the color ugly phenomenon L220x. It can be seen that the performance of the viewing angle indeed convincing, 178/178° is not living up to the hype."

What price perfect translation? Only the Googling has weighted for sure.

Recently been looking around for a new 22" monitor. Noticed that a lot of places around where I am had the Samsung 226BW at a very nice sales price, only to find out that they are down to the display model at each store and would not be getting more (i.e. discontinued).

Has anyone else noticed the new 22" model 2253BW from Samsung popping up at various online sites? So far Circuit City, Newegg and Best Buy Business has them in on-line stock but none of the local B&M stores as of yet. Am kinda surprised has little search information exists for this model other than some product release snipits.

Monitors are one of the few things I would rather buy from a B&M store rather than mail order (even if a bit more expensive) so just in case of a bum monitor/pixels can just swing by for an exchange rather then ship it out and play the waiting game.

I was in the same boat as you and ended up buying the Westinghouse 24" at Best Buy. It's a non-TN monitor and is on sale this week for $349.

I've only had it installed since yesterday, but I love it so far. 1920x1200 resolution and HDMI.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an articulating, extendable VESA mount that's not terribly expensive? My new monitor is a little wider than the desk and so I'm thinking about wall mounting it.

Xtknight, What is your opinion of the HP W2007 If I might ask I wish I could find an Icc profile calibrated for it...

If it was cumulative it would indicate a processor too slow to process the video signal (and instead of dropping frames it's just processing each one sluggishly). I doubt that though. It's probably just by chance.

That's 3 frames (~ 1000/60 * 3).

Well, I took the plunge and ordered the Planar from CDW. Unfortunately, the won't be instock till next week. I thought I would have had it in time for the weekend. Argh! Oh well. I'll post back and give my impressions.

Good luck! I think you'll like it...

I just finished Call of Duty 4, and for some reason, its the one game on which I can definitely notice the lower lag compared to the 2470WNX. I could barely stand to play it on the NEC (although FEAR and FarCry seemed fine), but it was a real joy with the Planar. The size alone makes games like this a cinematic experience...

Well quick update, avoid the 2408WFP, especially if you are a gamer. Not only is the input lag BAD (40-60ms average from multiple different people, including myself) the left side of the screen is brighter than the rest of the screen. This has happened for two of these monitors, so there is some quality control issue going on here

Well, I'm very disappointed to hear this. I really thought this one might be a viable option. But I'm getting the increasing feeling that S-PVA for FPS gaming is a no-go in most situations. Options seem to be settle badly for TN, pay up big for IPS, or sit tight with my small but good CRT until OLED comes out.

All depends, my VX2435wm has 30-40ms of input lag. I do not notice it personally. I am not a pro gamer so I do not mind or notice even. Also I cannot notice any ghosting issues but again sometimes this is a personal inclincation thing and some people notice ghosting a lot easier than others.

I have a 2470WNX and I do notice the input lag if I pay close attention to it. It doesn't really bother me, and I haven't had any problems playing FPS games with it. Then again, I'm not a hardcore FPS player like many (although I do enjoy them).

I knew there was going to be some input lag when I purchased the display. To me, the excellent PQ more than makes up for it. I thought about going with a TN panel, but I can't stand the poor viewing angles and inaccurate color, personally. I'm pretty sure the 24" IPS panels have some input lag (~2 frames) as well, so just because you're paying more doesn't mean you'll get better FPS performance.

Bottom line, every display type has compromises. You just have to decide which one you can live with.

I had a 2470wnx, the lag was unbearable for me. Between the lag and the ghosting/flickering, I sold it and got the planar px2611w which I'm loving.

Shame it had those issues, the picture quality was great and no backlight bleeding.

I ended up keeping the Gateway FPD2485w as my second display instead of the NEC. It has nifty controls, and the contrast and colors post calibration are pretty much identical to the NEC with less input lag (which doesn't matter I don't game on my second screen). Unfortunately it has a bit of backlight bleed in the corners. I would have kept the NEC but the lag annoyed me and it would cost me more if i ended up getting rid of the Gateway. You can even feel it mousing around on the desktop with the NEC. Same kind of issues as with the new dell 2408

I just got an HP 2065 in the mail today - Oct07 GSM002 S-IPS screen, so I won the lottery. Good picture, no dead pixels or noticeable backlight bleed, but the screen coating is making everything look impure and is really ruining the experience :/
