xtknight, ive made the decision to go for the Dell 2408WFP, but according to my company, i can get the Dell 2709W for the same price. I can still change the order from 2408wfp to 2709W. Ive read only one review of it (no more can be found?), on prad.de:
http://prad.de/new/monitore/te...8/test-dell-2709w.html
The monitor gets 'Very Good' as a result, apart from the size, is it any better then the 2408WFP? Both are the same price, which surprises me cause the 27'' is alot bigger. If it does have the same or better image quality, ill swap it for the 24'' dell, i mean, why not? same price, i only need to make space at my desk
Well,
here's another review for you, from cnet.
I just bought this monitor myself ($849 -$212.25 [live cashback] -$8.50 [cc cashback] = $628.25) and I must say it's easily the nicest monitor I've ever experienced. Coming from a Samsung 204B and I couldn't be happier with the upgrade. Beautiful screen, lots of room for everything, and I can finally read text again (20.1" @ 1600x1200 makes for some tiny fonts).
Just a note, I haven't noticed the input lag they complain about in the review, maybe I just overlook it but it hasn't been an issue for me (played WoW and STALKER on it so far).
EDIT: And now all my friends are jealous, so it was totally worth it!
Many thanks for your input, im considering either the 2408WFP or the 2709W.
I think both use the same panel? can you verify what panel it uses or cant consumers find out within the menu/backside of the monitor?
Also, 27'', that is really large, ive calculated its about 68cm, dont pixels look abit large in games when you run on 1600x1200 for example? like Crysis, there is no way my 9800GTX will run that game at 30fps @1920x1080.
The Cnet review gives only a 7,9, while the older 2408WFP gets a 8,5 there.... Strange as both are same panels basicly?
Anyway, the 2709W is a steal for 620 euro's, cheaper then the 800 euro's 2408WFP atm.
