Random question: Do monitors usually come with the necessary cable(s) to hook them up to your PC? I've never bought a monitor separate before, I wouldn't even know what to get. Is a male to male DVI cable usually all it takes?
Usually, yes. Unless the monitor has an HDMI input, in which case you need an HDMI male->DVI male cable or an adapter. Usually monitors like that come with adapters.
Not all monitors come with DVI cables, but most come with some cable (VGA). My L227 only came with a VGA.

Honestly there aren't any that I would blindly recommend to anyone (at least for gaming). All the 20"s I've seen have been around 20 ms or had panel lotteries (the Samsung 20xBW series). The 20" widescreen size has fallen by the wayside. Look at 22" panels if you can. They have a higher dot pitch too for easier visibility.
What if I was guaranteed to get a 206bw with an AUO panel? From what I can gather, the worst panel seems to be the C ones.
Then I say go for it. You can read the article at BeHardware for details about differences between the S/A/C panels.

Which is the biggest gaming monitor I can sit into 17" high monitor spot?
I'm not sure what you mean by this but unfortunately 17" LCDs are not very popular anymore. It would be much better to go for a 19" panel like some of the LG 2 ms panels, which are great for gaming. I can't recommend you a 17" as there have been no good reviews of them recently.

It did look good though. xtknight on a related note do you know any details about this service?
http://www.screentekinc.com/so...rite-lcd-screens.shtml
I would love to have a glossy 30 inch.
I think that having a monitor combined with a computer would drive me nuts because I would want to upgrade the monitor. If I used a video output then I would be stuck with another monitor I didn't want.
I haven't had any experience with the glossy service. I don't know of any 30" glossy panels, either, although there are some 24" glossies.
Does anyone know if there are any 26" glossy panels?
I don't believe I've ever seen a 26" glossy panel but my memory may fail me.

Anyone here knows why i sometimes when i boot my pc, just before the welcome screen, i see a white field in the leftside of the lcd, this goes away in 2 secs and i get my desktop.
Strange thing is, sometimes it does, but sometimes not. Anyway, my old crt doesnt do this with my current pc.
It doesnt botter me at all, but, aslong this lcd is ok.
Thx
It could be a video card problem or monitor problem, but the only way to test that is to isolate it with other video cards that support dual link DVI and other 30" monitors.
It seems to do it when the monitor has been on/off. Ill try to make a pic.
What ive to note is, i allways see that DVI icon on top left of my screen after it booted to my desktop (also after the white field yesterday). Could it be that the monitor 'finds' the source and gives a white field sometimes?
Thx
Okej, have cought it on tape, ill put it in this post when ive it uploaded somewhere.
Here are the video's, ive tested with two pc's, the first link shows my new pc giving the white field just before my desktop appears.
The second youtube link shows my second pc with an DVI videocard, on this pc, the monitor gives the white fields at the bootup of my mainboard image. This seems to happen when i turned my monitor on for a couple of secs, turn it off and then on again and reboot my pc. Strange thing is on my old pc that it doesnt happen in the beginning.
Btw, when i hook up my pc to my old CRT 22' vision master pro, it doesnt happen.
Well, last time i go for an dell, 2300 euros for a new screen that is defect. NEC next time
Have seen the NEC Multisync 3090WQXi for 1900... wish i was gone with that. Now ive to explain Dell a very rare problem with the white thingy. Im afraid they wont send me a new one for this, and IF, ill get a crappy refurb probaly. For the info this is a A02 from Chech repulbic.
And XTknight, hope u have an idea of what it is, if it doesnt affect anything... ill have to deal with it. When i power off the monitor, and reboot and turn it on. It seems to not do it. But yea... its strange Thanks anyway for your help, this can be a warning too for people that are intending to buy an Dell.
Videos are large if you view them but the monitor is large too
oh and the noise, thats my pc, the 1st video is the new one which is allmost like if ur in a passenger jet taking off, might give a vacation feel though.
Video 1 with 9800GTX DVI:

EDIT again:
Ive thought, i could sell my Dell and buy the 2690 and ive alot of money left over. Or i could sell it and get the 3090 NEC, problem is that Prad doesnt like the 3090 as much as the 3008wfp which seems strange.
