Quick question, just to be sure before I go out and buy anything: the LG L207WT is the 20" version of the L227WT recommended for gaming in this very thread, right? No other differences?

Xtknight,
How come you don't have the BenQ FP241VW on your list? I'm just now received one to test out.
I've been trying to find a good deal on the Palnar PX2611W but have yet to find a place where I can purchase one to test out without being charged 30% restock if I dont like it.

Hey xtknight, I took a look at your list of recommended monitors and I plan to buy a 24 inch TN LCD for gaming and movies within the next year. I see that Benq v2400W is both the cheapest and #1 recommended LCD on your list. What are the differences between the $400 Benq V2400 and the Soyo 24 inch LCD I've seen for around $200 on sale in the past? What are the major factors I should be looking at within TN LCDs? Thanks.

can anyone tell me which type of DAC does LG w2234s-bn lcd uses, is it 6-bit or true 8-bit?
i have already looked over the internet and did not get any info or reviews.
The w2234s is a TN panel so it very likely uses 6-bit.

So is the BenQ V2400W still ranked #1 for 24 inch long "hardcore" gaming?
Is there a NON-glossy 24" LG to match the LG L277WT?
I just can't decide on a new 24" gaming monitor.
Yes the BenQ is still at the top.
Why not the V2400W? The 245BW is also another good choice.

xtknight, thank you for the reply. I was under the false impression that it wasn't up to date because a lot of them were deactivated from newegg. I just found them available in Dell and others.

My last two monitor purchases were based on your advice. I'm currently running a S-IPS 2007WFP and I remember my jaw hitting the floor the first time I switched it on (actually, that happened many times over the first 6 months). I'm now interested in making the jump into the 24-26" range, but I need something at least comparable to the stunning picture on my 2007WFP.
Have you actually compared your 2007WFP to any other good monitors? The reason I ask is because I had been using one (the IPS version) until recently when I got a NEC 20WMGX2 (also IPS) because I wanted to try a glossy screen. I was shocked to see how much better the NEC looked, with a much clearer and brighter picture, brilliant whites and better black level. I tried every possible adjustment but the Dell was just clearly inferior, and although I planned to run dual monitors I couldn't stand to look at the 2007WFP any more and now it's in the closet.
IMO the 2007WFP is an overrated monitor, and I think a lot of people here tend to think that just having an IPS panel makes a monitor great. IPS is definately great for viewing angles but there is much more to a great picture than viewing angles.

I am interested in purchasing a ~19-20" widescreen display that will be used for the purpose of displaying video content at a small trade show. I would like to spend ~$200 but can budge a bit.
I checked the multimedia section, but it seems as though most of the displays listed are significantly larger than what I need and/or are out of my price range.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Was gonna get the V2400W but NewEgg no longer carries it, same for 245BW =/

Hi xtknight,
I ordered a V2400W about a month ago, and despite not being terribly impressed by it I'd decided that I would keep it since even halfway decent monitor choices seem to be disappearing rapidly.
However, I've found that I'm pretty annoyed by the TN viewing angles and the somewhat washed out and dull look of the display during desktop usage. It's not an issue in games or movies (where it actually looks quite good -- much better than I'd been expecting), but the poor desktop performance is a real hindrance when doing programming or web browsing, which is about 50% of what I'd be using this monitor for.
I'm not sure if I even can or should return it at this point -- I'm past the 30-day return period, but there's some chance I could take it back anyways. I think I've exhausted almost of the available options for a non-TN display now though: I've tried the NEC 20WMGX2, Dell 2007WFP, and HP LP2065. All of the new IPS panels are wide gamut and too bright, and the DS-263N (which was the best of them by far) is now discontinued. The BenQ seemed to be the best TN option for a standard gamut, gaming-capable display at the time and still does now.
If I were to return this, the only IPS panel that I haven't tried yet is the Dell 2007FP. I returned my 2007WFP because of some truly awful backlight flickering at mid to low brightnesses, dead pixels, and the annoying "sparkly" anti-glare coating that Dell seems to use all on their monitors. I also wasn't thrilled with the amount of ghosting in games, but I could probably get used to it eventually. It's hard to say whether it was better or worse than the BenQ though, even with all of those problems.
The BenQ is obviously a better gaming display, but I wouldn't have to deal with restrictive viewing angles on the Dell and it would definitely have better overall image quality than the V2400W. The biggest negatives to trying the 2007FP in my mind would be the panel lottery and potential to get a flickering unit again (which could turn into a lot of trouble), and the usual 20" IPS pitfalls such as the purple glow when viewing it off center and the grainy coating.
Do you think it would be worth bothering with the Dell, or should I just keep this in light of my very limited options? If you were in my position, which do you think you would go with?
Thanks again for your help, and sorry for the rather long post.
(By the way, going back to something I asked you about before, I can confirm that the V2400W has a maximum of about 33ms of input lag. digitalversus.com's 20ms figure is wrong. The average amount of input lag does seem to be quite low though, and was often 0 in the shots I took. I can't honestly say that I can feel it, so it doesn't bother me too much.)

Sorry xtknight, should have added "when it becomes available" in my original post. I'm just wondering if you will be ranking it in your "Recommendations" once info is available...I don't recall ever seeing an Apple display listed.
