Another Craigslist find! $70 for the lot.

That's a complete SNES console with two controllers and instructions, boxed Super Metroid with instructions, Super Mario World, Legend of Zelda, Super Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Donkey Kong Country, and... uh, Madden '93. Sweet!

Man that's awesome! I really need to start checking Craigslist more often. Finds like yours are like a diamond in the rough.

I don't have any pics of my collection but I do have a Famicom and a box of games for that, a NES with 95 game atm, an Atari 2600 and a bunch of games for that and a lot of other stuff (consoles and games) not really worth mentioning.

My rarest item is a Panasonic JR-200. Got about 15-20 games for it. I've never seen another one like it out in the wild.

Kevtris's HDMI NES mod is in production. He also confirmed that it is also the same HDMI board being used on the Analog NT for the HDMI out from that system as well.

I am now debating if I want to get my original NES toaster modded with Kevtris's HDMI mod. I mean, if I do, I will probably want to do other mods to it as well (at the very least do whatever it takes to enable expanded audio so it works with the HDMI), and probably need to pickup a Powerpak (even through I have the Everdrive N8, it looks like without using a very early set of mappers, it does not work with the HDMI mod due to the way it syncs the clock between the board and the NES CPU).

Problem is that the Powerpak is always sold out (it is one of the reasons why I got the Everdrive since it seemed like the Powerpak was no longer being actively developed and supported aside from the community that uses it).

Do they both support auto-setting the sound chips enabled on the HDMI kit? I want to mod my twinFAMICOM but I don't think they sell Powerpak in a Famicom cassette like they do with Everdrive.
Otherwise, I want an offline booklet with the database and individual labels on my most-used carts.

Originally they both (Powerpak and Everdrive N8) were to be supported on Kevtris's kit. Unfortunately after extensive testing Kevtris could not make his mod compatible with the Everdrive due to the Everdrive using a poor way to interface with the CPU/PPU of the NES on recent mappers. This also appears why the Everdrive has issues with certain CPU/PPU combinations that are out there in different NES hardware, with the solution for those that ran into said CPU/PPU combinations to use the version 3 mappers (I think they are up to version 10+ now), which restricts compatibility for many games.

Kevtris has offered to help resolve the issues with the Everdrive N8, but without access to the source code, can not see how difficult it would be to fix, and therefor can not say for certain how easy/hard it would be and how long (he would also like to be compensated for his time since he would be fixing someone else's product). No public word from the developer of the Everdrive yet on the matter (might be on vacation for all we know).

Then I hope this spurs Kevtris to make his own flash cartridge like he has been contemplating. I'm Zaire he'll get it right!

I can't stand the menu on the Powerpak. I know Kevtris protects his work but I hope he opens it up enough to add functionality and make custom menus and such.

It irks me just a bit that this HDMI mod can prevent operation of something that would work on my NES before modification.

Earlier in the development process, I heard the HDMI mod could be disabled and you could use the original PPU with RF or AV. If they kept that feature in, can Everdrive still work when you temporarily disable the HDMI mod? *ihopeihopeihope*

Everdrive works now, so: of course.

???

1. Is Everdrive compatible with the HDMI mod or not?

2. Can the HDMI mod be disabled or not?
(Was this feature ever removed?)

3. Does the HDMI mod need to be disabled for Everdrive to work?

Everdrive works now, without the mod, so, of course it will work with the mod disabled.

So I guess that means the mod can still be disabled...?

I hope that can be done by simply not connecting an HDMI cable (no switch modification).

You know, I never completed "Godzilla! Monster of Monsters" for the NES growing up (I think I rented it at least 2-3 times). So I pulled it out (I got it a couple years back in a large auction lot). I always died against Ghidorah. I finally leveled up Godzilla enough this play through to be able to win. It was still a VERY close battle, with me winning with just 1 health bar left (I got lucky with the RNG and Ghidorah didn't go into the lightning breath attack).

I borrowed this as a kid and never knew WTF I was doing. I remember that encountering enemies in the segmented overview would lead to cool-looking battles with other monsters and it was the first time I learned about "Mothra."

It was funny watching that.

It actually got me on a Legend of Zelda kick. I havn't play it in forever, so I started the other night. I was floored how much I still remembered (2 of the +100 rupee locations and a couple +30s, and all of the non-dungeon heart containers, the lost hills path (well that one is easy, but can't remember the lost woods path, however it isn't really needed since you can just get into the graveyard with the stepladder from death mountain)).

I have 2 more pieces of the triforce to get (dungeon 7 and 8). I don't play the dungeons in order (1-8), as I almost always did dungeon 3 and 4 first (raft and step ladder), which then lets me get all the non-dungeon heart containers as well as the first sword upgrade, and the power bracelet to travel around the map much faster. This play through I did dungeon 3 first and then had enough rupee's for the candle, which then meant I had enough rupee's for the blue ring (due to the +100 rupee secret locations). With the blue ring dungeon 4 is really not bad at all, and all the others (except 7 and the final one) are pretty easy (7 is a pain because the blue wizrobes are just brutal and they are all over the place in there).
