I managed to get a good one, Gam3Gear is the brand, had good reviews and looks quite good in actual use. Typically if you can get one that has ONLY S-Video and the two audio cables, you are good. DO NOT get the ones that have the composite wire as well, those seem to be the ones where they shortcut the wiring.
But, oof, stolen, that sucks. I actually didn't have it stolen, but I gave it to my parents. I bought a Wii like 8 or 9 years ago or something, it was a couple years old at the time so I think I got one of the first waves of used ones. Since it played GameCube games I decided I didn't need the system itself anymore, my dad liked the Mario Golf game so I gave the system to him. Somewhere along the way I decided I needed money or something and sold my collection a couple of years later. I think I had Mario Kart Double Dash, Metroid Prime, Super Monkey Ball, Mario Golf (after my dad returned it to me, he said he didn't use it as much as we thought he would) and F-Zero GX. All games I would kill to have back right now (I did find a decent deal on MKDD for $25, so I have gotten that back, and like I said before, it looks fantastic on the Wii with the component cable). I really regret getting rid of that collection, F-Zero GX is such a good, and REALLY challenging game.
Fortunately my parents still have the GameCube, and my brother's GameCube (with a copy of Super Monkey Ball still in it!), they are going to send me both. On top of that they still have my old NES top loader, so I'm getting that back as well. I feel fortunate to have access to them again. Just wish I never deepsixed those games. Huge mistake.
What games did you lose when they were stolen? How big was your collection?
