Returning DFI Ultra-D

After a weekend straight of struggling with the Ultra-D's memory issues and not being able to get the onboard LANs to work I've decided to send it back to newegg.

Can someone give me a recommendation on a more stable Nforce4 board? Overclocking is not a priority, I just want to be able to slap in my corsair valueRAM and plug in my ethernet without any problems.

Price is not much of an issue.

ASUS A8N-SLI Three of my friends have them and not one of them have caused any problems. It may be a little more, but ASUS is typically rock solid. But I am pondering between the two myself. What kind of problems were you having with your RAM?

If you look around, especially on dfi-street.com forums you will notice many many people are having compatability issues with this board, it wouldnt take two chips of my corsiar valueram, the computer would crash every time it tried to load windows, so i had to stick with 512 mb.

Thats all? I'd rather not have to pay $200 for stability.... if i was an overclocker that might be an option

I had problems with the dfi nf4 sli-dr. It would constantly crash in any game, half of the screen would freeze in sli mode, and it would just freeze for no reason.
Took it back and got the msi neo 4 platinum sli.
Within 10 minutes had it up and running smooth as silk. I will never buy dfi again, even though that one MB was probably a fluke.
Now i have a msi neo 2 and neo 4, and they are both as stable as can be.

im kind of leaning toward the chaintech nf4. its cheap and people are saying its stable as hell

Chaintech/MSI/ASUS

MSI has a bad reputation, but their new NF4 boards look to be real winners. I really think MSI is making a come around.

The only problem there is it voids your warranty.

i guess that's your best bet. all of the nf4 chipset mobos are going to have issues, it's what you get for buying new tech

I've come to the conclusion that all of these hardcore overclocking boards come with their fair share of problems

Anyone have any experience returning items to newegg? Im thinking of just ordering my new mobo tonight as long as newegg is reliable with returns and crediting creditcards without hassle.

manually enter the mac address in the bios under genie bios settings , the mac address can be found on the top pci-e slot and a sticker should be located on the left side of the slot or closest the i/o ports

rofl it seems like this new build has been just plug-n-pray. Went through a A8N then onto a DFI UltraD. Ultra works great besides it not letting me use my kingston hyperx pc4000 sticks :|

for non overclockers the foxxconn winfast nf4 ultra board is a pretty good buy

I have the MSI neo4 ultra and with no or mild overclock it is great and rock stable. I have had some problems pushing it so I can not say yet if it is the board or other parts. But it went well and as long as I dont push things it has been great
