I will of course be doing my own research, but figured I'd include asking those that haven't been out of the game for 8 years like myself.

I have a beastly 1300w EVGA PS I barely used for my old build before it was shelved. I'd like to pull it out and use it again unless there's some new connectors out there in ignorant of. Also have an Phanteks Enthoo Primo case that while still has some older port connections on the front/back, is an awesome case worthy of reusing if possible.

Can't post links so the PS is EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 120-G2-1300-XR

This one?

Apologies, as I've been crazy busy, but yes that matches the part number I posted for my PS. I'll try to find my case as well.

Also, I should elaborate that I Googled the number to make sure it matched, and it did. Spent about $5k maybe 8 years ago on this build and this forum tried helping me resolve an issue I had getting multiple GPU's to work together, but we couldn't. Life ended up happening and the result was a 5k paperweight. Won't be doing that again.

Honestly with my schedule, I won't be doing heavy gaming anymore, so will be REALLY trying to reign in my usual desire of getting high end equipment. I'm going to be building a decent gaming machine for the rare times I can and the bulk of it will be taking on my 14TB drives to be used as a Plex/whatever is now the best type server for the family to utilize and access all of my media. Back in the day the desire was 4k across 3 27in screens with dual water-cooled R9 290's. Now it'll prob be a single 49in or slightly smaller 1440p screen with medium to high settings being more than enough.

short answer; you're fine.

longer answer: that G2 is modern enough to support C-states since haswell. physical connectors and power ratings are all the same, well until pcie 5.0 i guess. fwiw i just swapped out an ivy bridge set up for rocket lake and my old antec neo 620 didn't boot the system but my 750 watt evga G2 (same super flower oem as the 1300 G2) did w/o a problem.

and with 1300 watts, you can choose the intel/amd platform you like, get a RTX 3090 and still have room for water cooling, enough fans to levitate the case, RGB galore and even a disco ball.

Appreciate it! I figured as much, but haven't done research in a long time. I don't think I'm going to go down the full water cooled route again, but if i do, i def won't skimp on the quick disconnects!

Anywhere I can save money, the better. I'm assuming my case should be fine to reuse as well, but I guess I'll have to look into it more. Only real issue is whether I want external usb-c ports or not lol. That seems to be the only real difference I'm seeing. Being able to reuse the case/PS is a nice chuck of savings. That being said, using that behemoth of a case(that I built a special wooden stand with wheels for as it weighed 80lbs with everything in it) if I don't go water cooling, may be overkill. Then I may have to see what if any of the water cooling gear I bought can be used again, but I really don't know man lol.

Jumper the green PS_On contact to a black ground to turn it on w/o a system, with an old HDD connected as a load. Leave running a few hours to reform the capacitors. If it won't even run with only a HDD, jumper it on without the HDD and if it stays on, leave on for an hour or so, then connect the HDD.

Is this a way to test the functionality of my old PS that's been sitting? I assume so, but just checking.
